Read BEFORE you vote... example why (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?p=1256883#post1256883). Sorry about the length
Yesterday this forum went wild with posts about the march,
and when to have it and when not to have it. Arguments were
posted about why it shouldn't be held on certain months because
students have finals, whom we need for a good turn out. Also,
why not to have it on a holiday because people want to spend it
with their families. Then there was the argument against having
it on a weekday because people would need to take time off and
probably couldn't take the day off, therefore it should be organized
on a weekend.
Well, I gave my viewpoint as to why it would be better to have it
on a weekday. The gist of my argument was as follows:
More news coverage on weekdays (just check your local and
national news media on weekdays and compare them to
weekends).
More coverage because of possible traffic "disruption" and
the fact all these folks are taking to the streets on a business day.
You also get the added benefit that people out on their daily
business will take notice and spread the "buzz" on their own.
e.g., Imagine typical business guy on his way to work:
Sees the HUGE freedom marchers.
On his way to the office he calls his wife on his cell
and tells her about it and asks "Have you heard anything
on the news about this march?"
When he gets to the office tells Larry and Kate on the
elevator ride up
Tells John, Candy and Martha on his way to his desk.
Later in the day, on his way to have lunch with a client
he tells Bob.
At lunch he tells his potential new clients to break the
ice and start the conversation.
Waitress overhears and comments on it "Yea, I heard
from my customers earlier today that it is a Ron Paul
march for Freedom!"
...
All of us taking OFF WORK to go to this march tell our
employers (possibly big corporations) where we STAND!
Can you imagine thousands if not tens of thousands of
Freedom-fighters taking the day off? ... This may cause
a glitch to register in our economy for the day! Which will
translate to MORE NEWS COVERAGE!
... probably more reasons I've not yet thought of
But... then I started to think, that yea, it'll be tough for all of us to
get up and fly to Washington DC for this march. Especially if we have
family and kids. Do we take the entire family with us? Do we make
arrangements for someone to sit for the kids? Then there is transportation
costs (airplane fee, hotel, etc.) All these work against our intention
and would be causes for the overall turn out and the march to be a
failure or at best a non-event.
So... taking all these into consideration, would it not be possible to
have many (read: hundreds) of these Freedom Marches ALL OVER the
United States? I mean instead of all of us getting up and flying over
to DC, we could maybe make a minimal travel to local major metropolitan
cities? e.g., New York, Los Angeles (CA), Chicago (IL), Houston (TX),
Phoenix (AZ), Philadelphia (PA), San Antonio (TX), San Diego (CA), Dallas (TX),
San Jose City (CA), Detroit (MI), Jacksonville (FL), Indianapolis (IN), San
Francisco (CA), Columbus (OH), Austin (TX), Memphis (TN), Fort Worth (TX),
Baltimore (MD), Charlotte (NC), El Paso (TX), Boston (MA), Seattle (WA),
Milwaukee (WI), Denver (CO), Louisville/Jefferson County (KY), Las Vegas (NV),
NashvilleDavidson (TN), Oklahoma City (OK), Portland (OR), Tucson (AZ),
Albuquerque (NM), Atlanta (GA), Long Beach (CA), Fresno (CA), Sacramento (CA),
Kansas City (MO), Cleveland (OH), Virginia Beach (VA), Omaha (NE), Miami (FL),
Oakland (CA), Tulsa (OK), Honolulu (HI), Minneapolis (MN), Colorado Springs (CO),
Arlington (TX), Wichita (KS), ..the list goes on, and yea, even Washington DC! :)
What do you say?
An All State Freedom March!
