Texas 1
Wisconsin 2
Vermont 3
Ohio 4
Rhode Island 5

But what was i thinking is what are the odd of ron paul winning those states?
I think ron paul has a pretty crazy chance in Vermont, since that might be the only bush hating state :) as for Ohio there are alot of serbs and crots who live in Ohio

We should make some ads for Ohio, just so the serbs know that ron paul is the only one who has been speaking against Kosovo independence.

And about Wisconsin what do you what are the odds of winning it?

Let Huckabee win in Ohio and Wisconsin. Focus on Texas and Vermont of the remaining state, also there are primaries after that.

Oh, and you don't have to be a candidate to be nominated.

Why would serbs vote for a fasle leader?
Mike Huckabee supports Kosovo independence.

what's the bottom line on this 5 state business to get into the convention? is that based on fact or rumour? please clarify.

In other words, i've heard that we have to win 5 states to get into the convention... but i have also heard that this is false, or more complicated.

anyone?

He can't get the Republican nomination locked up, it is mathematically impossible at this point, we might as well let him get as many delegates as he can so that we have a brokered convention.

The GOP rules say in order to be a candidate, you need the support of the majority of the delegates from 5 states, but people have been nominated when they weren't candidates before.

But why did voters vote for McCain? is it because of the media? or is it that gop voters think its time to bomb bomb iran. I dont know anymore cause i am pissed.

Its cause the press has been pushing McCain and a few other cast of characters. All who had serious flaws that prevented them from getting widespread support.

On Paper McCain looks ok. Longterm senator... war hero....

Its when he talks or when you start digging into the above he doesnt look so good. Most people never do that.

DC and territories count as "states" for that rule. ;)

No one really knows for sure the full details on all this... Here's the original discussion on it... Keep in mind there are a ton of barracks lawyers out there who are going to give you a different expert answer. Don't worry about it...

lol i seriously doubt there is going to be a brokered convention, but ill still cross my fingers and hope. In all seriousness, the "establishment" will make sure of no brokered convention, im sure of it....

The "rumor" started at the 2004 Republican national convention when they adopted the rules for this one. ;)

There are repeated posts about Dr. Paul becoming the Republican presidential nominee in a brokered convention. Most of them are promoting bad information. Here are the actual rules (http://www.gop.com/images/2008_Call_FINAL.pdf):

Rules "binding" delegates are determined by the states (http://www.gop.com/images/Press_State_Summaries.pdf): some delegates are not bound at all, others for the first few votes (first, second or third), while other states bind their delegates until they are released.

In order to be eligible to be nominated at all [RNC Rule 40(b) (http://www.gop.com/About/Rules31-41.htm)], one requirement is to win the majority of delegates in five states (including DC and territories, RNC Rule 27 (http://www.gop.com/About/Rules21-30.htm)).
