View Full Version : Are you staying in the Republican party? (Read OP)

Personally, I am. Because I understand what Ron Paul is doing by staying a Republican himself.

It will always be about Democracts and Republicans. Always. Flocking into the Libertarian, Constitution, or other 3rd party will not do a thing. All that will do is hand over the Republican party to the neo-cons, which they already have the majority of.

I believe Ron Paul's mission, and message, is to change the base of the Republican party, into a majority of Ron Paul Republicans.

We are seeing Ron Paul Republicans run for office, indicating this idea's time has come. I, for one, am not backing out of the plan.

Yes, begrudgingly. We will try to make a change from the bottom up. Depends on how it goes on how long I will stay in. We intend to be a huge thorn in the side of all the neocons and big government RINOs!

I think the Republican party is already destroyed but if we hang on we will be the first in what rises from the ashes.

We are a new generation of Republican, no doubt. The old neocons gotta leave sometime.

I have voted in three general elections now and one primary. Never really have been a Republican. 1996 perot, 2000 Howard Phillips (Constitution Party), 2004 Micheal Peroutka (Constitution Party), Feb 5 RON PAUL.

And with the march coming up? Pshht, forget it! We'll have our own damn book for the Revolution itself.

Yes, but years from now when the entire Republican party has had its face lift, all because of one man's determination, well...that's something they can't keep out of the history books. :)

No. I joined the GOP recently because I had no idea what conservatism was all about until I head Paul describe it.

I thought conservatives were Bible pounding elites who were only worried about conserving their wealth at the expense of everyone else. I had no idea they believed in small government, low taxes, freedom, etc.

The GOP clearly is not interested in true conservatism, so why would I stay? If other Ron Paul Republicans emerge as candidates I will support them, but by no means would I ever walk into a voting booth and pull the Republican lever just because its a vote for Republicans.

Fortunately, my state doesn't have the registered voting that pigeon-holes a person into a party. I've always been more of an independent, so I won't be directly involved in the GOP, but more than happy to work on the campaigns of any local Ron Paul Republicans who appear.

As much as I want to be LP official sometimes, I think we're better off taking the GOP's powerful infrastructure and making it our own. I know we're mostly cynics and so are LP diehards that laugh at the idea, but to not try is to not truly care about affecting positive change. We have to advance liberty in the most efficient manner. We have to win this war rather than make a statement.

I also fall into the 'won't pull the lever for a Republican just because they're a Republican' camp, but I'm sure most planning on staying within the GOP would say the same. We should try to develop an actual candidate test to compare them in three areas: their rhetoric, their record, and how both stack up to the Constitution.

I agree. If Ron Paul has done one thing, he's brought us all to the same party, and put us in touch with each other. United we can possibly take over the GOP. Divided we just do what we've been doing.

Yeah. Splitting off everywhere afterwards will liken this to a big summer camp. After a bunch of talk and some fun for a little while, everyone just says bye and the summer becomes no big deal. I really dislike the GOP as much as anyone (shiiit, I'm a pro-choice atheist of all things), but if we don't stay a relatively organized front, we'll go back remembering how nice the roasted marshmallows were while the Machine steamrolls our country.

Maybe I'll switch to Republican Party again in 40 years or so... My mom's only 39 and she still supports McCain

Ronpublicans need to get involved at the Republican precinct level. A lot of Republican precincts don't even have precinct captains. Those positions are literally up for grabs in a lot of areas. It's a good place to start.

Grass roots action within the Republican party may not produce miracles, but determined individuals can accomplish a lot more than people think.

One thing is for sure---apathy and giving up will accomplish NOTHING.

I don't think you can say that it'll always be Republicans vs. Democrats, but if the current party system is to be destroyed, you need something to happen that will splinter at least one of the parties. It's happened before, the Whigs, for instance, crumbled into dust - and it can happen again.

The question today is how are we going to wean the dirty whore, the national media network, from sleeping with 2 filthy old men, the Republican and Democratic parties? This is not a question for conservatives or liberals but both affiliations.
For those sensitive to the pornographic expression above, please realize that this orgy is endangering the soveriegnty of the U.S. Constitution.
With this in mind, what do we do now? Considering that we have no excuse in that we as Ron Paul supporters are now ahead of the curve as both liberals and conservatives, what do we do next to keep the national media from ignoring Ron Paul and his bid to follow the Constitution in the next Presidential election?

All that will do is hand over the Republican party to the neo-cons, which they already have the majority of.

And it will die the death it deserves.

But I see the need to keep polling this to determine if the forum is on board with the "Reclaim the GOP" battle cry. Sadly it seems so.
