Ok - I would like to officially volunteer to head up the organization of DC area bands and dj's that would play and or be involved in this event - that will perform for free.

There are some big name acts that are either from the DC / Baltimore metro area plus up and coming acts. I have contacts both in terms of artists and production resources for putting this type thing on.

First thing first - get a OFFICIAL DATE from HQ that we know is fixed. Then we can start inviting artists and production crews to get involved. Permits and stage access including using the electrical outlets on the stages on the DC mall would then have to be worked on. RP HQ in Arlington might have some great insight into this otherwise I can pitch in as well as I have a attorney friend that threw a gathering on the mall a few years ago.

Second this... heard them recently and enjoyed.

At the OP:

I also have a list of DJ's who would be down to do this for travel expenses. I know of at least 4 of them that would share a room with me in DC. If you come correct with the sound system, we'll come correct with the feel good vibes. I have TONS of mixed sets and demo's for all involved.

I was already compiling a list for this and planning a second stage for music specifically... hit me up via PM with your information.

For music, we need to really think about it. We are not putting on a dance party. The musicians should be RP supporters. The music should be voted on. We'll probably have to error on the safe side.

and if anyone can get john mayer (a hardcore RP supporter and celebrity) .... that would certainly garner attention.

There's stuff going on, yea. An entire day of ONLY speakers will be boring. We know how to get people on their feet and dancing. We're not talking about repetitive music here.

Can we get a video feed to CSPAN and the other networks? Perhaps we can play videos in between too. Kind of like the Oscars or Grammys.

Please consider looking into this production person. Hes got lasers that can project Ron Paul graphics on the largest buildings in Washington.

They covered the Anti-War rallies... as long as we bill this as a Freedom Rally with Ron PAUL JUST SO HAPPENING to be a speaker, then yes. Otherwise, blackout.

We are not putting on a dance party.

Why not? Seriously, dancing sounds like more fun than marching.

Also, on the topic of permits, what about micro FM transmitters?

(now humming 'Dancing in the Streets')

Um, PauliticsPolitics, have you not ever been to a HUGE rally like this?

Speaking for 12 hours straight will not hold many people's attention, especially with young kids, etc... which I've seen a lot of posts about... this is a family/festival/carnival of carnage for the freedom movement.

And personally, wanna move the masses, make em shake their asses!

Who are you talking about getting from the Balt/DC area?
I'm familiar with a lot of names from there, but not all by any means.

What acts do you have in mind?

Also, you might want to take a look at this thread, where we're talking about much the same thing. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=118727

thoughtbombing: I totally agree! This rally should be a LIBERTY REVOLUTION rally not RP only because they won't cover it!
