Those in DC are the ones that will be doing the most work on the ground getting permits, finding lodging, etc. they need to step up ASAP!!! They're also going to need all of our help!

Anyone here from DC???

I'm in DC burbs. I can put up a few people. I was thinking that the best way for people to come is probably by train. If you drive up/down here parking is going to be a bitch. Tickets are also fairly reasonable and the trains run all hours of the night.

you guys should form an ad hoc coalition to organize this event. maybe even contact the NAACP or whoever it was that organized the Million Man March to get some advice, and invite them along. . .

It's not just people in DC. Anyone with a phone can call and get information on travel and lodging. We'll need numbers of committed people when we talk to hotels to see what kind of discount and stuff there is.

Do trains out there run to further out of town locations? Someone told me there should be hotel space in Baltimore too, is there a Baltimore -> DC train?

I will help out - Im in Fairfax VA - have an office in downtown Fairfax - can put up people in a hotel or for the less $ fortunate they can crash my place.

there are great deals on hotels via Marriott.com - especially on the weekends in DC they have deals like at Worldgate Marriott Suites that are normally $250-$300 / night you can get for $89 / night and you can sleep 3-6 people in there.

I'm not too far and as soon as we figure out the date I'll step up and help out as well. For low budgets I recommend camping out...there are many suitable camping areas in the region.

I don't believe the train travels to Baltimore. I think it stops in Greenbelt, MD. Near Fredericksburg, VA, I believe that they have a train that connects to to the metro and hotel rates would be a little cheaper. For those using an RV to travel, reservations need to be made months in advance. The potomac river attracts lots of campers so they stay full most of the summer.

Sorry, just starting my day in DC now...I was up working through the night past dawn putting up RP and McKinley for Congress yard signs at all of the polling places with Vern, crashed there for a few hours then the hour + drive back to DC.

Can you cut us a little slack and let us get through the Potomac primaries today and recuperate tomorrow first, please?

No offense. Now you know what it's like to be a lightning rod.

Shouldn't someone create a dedicated meetup group for the march?
