For folks living in the 1st Congressional District of Mississippi looking for a Congressman to vote for this March 11th check out www.gregdavisforcongress.com

While he isn't running as a Ron Paul Republican by name I did speak with him at a meeting in Senatobia last night and he is very much a strict Constitutionalist.

He has a civil engineering background so he at least isn't a typical lawyer/political science person, but he did spend 7 years in the Mississippi State House of Representatives and for the last 11 years has been mayor of Southaven, the fastest growing city in Mississippi.

While mayor of Southaven, MS Greg Davis actually refunded money to the taxpayers when the city had excess funds at the end of a fiscal year. He had to go to the State Legislature to get a law passed to allow him to do this.

And I spoke with one of his campaign staff workers for ~1 hour after the meeting who is a Ron Paul supporter who works for various Republican campaigns. While he doesn't have a long history with Greg Davis the fact that he (the worker) is in tune with and supports Ron Paul's positions speaks well of Greg Davis for hiring him.

Of course don't take my word for it, do some checking for yourself, email his campaign for more information.

But I've also spoken with Glen McCullough out of Tupelo and I WILL NOT support him. Glen McCullough is evasive when answering questions and has some weak positions including wanting to grant amnesty to illegal aliens and being 100% pro-war in Iraq and told me he thought it was a Constitutional war.

William:
Is Greg Davis your official endorsement? I know plenty of people in MS-01 and have already been asked by my sister who I supported for the House from that area (she was filing an absentee ballot -- voted RP for Pres, by the way). I didn't have an answer at all. Do you know anything about Randy Russell beyond the skimpy listing of issues found on his website?

Mississippi Republican Congressional Primary - March 11, 2008

DISTRICT 1
Greg Davis (http://gregdavisforcongress.com/) ($15,000, apparently a loan taken out)
Glenn McCullough, Jr. (http://www.glenn08.com/) ($0)
Randy Russell (http://randyrussellforcongress.com/) ($0)

Russell, being a physician and including health care platform (albeit small and barely defined) on his website, means he may be well-liked among politically informed individuals in the medical community (which is huge in the area).

I have yet to personally meet Randy Russell so I can't say much about him.

The reason I mentioned Greg Davis is that I did talk to him and asked him very pointed questions about whether or not he would support his oath to the Constitution over the desires of his constituents, and he seemed very honest in his answer that he would. He might not be running using Ron Paul's name, which would be ideal, but he at least gave straight answers to questions that supported Ron Paul's positions.

Glenn McCullough, on the other hand, was very evasive and did not give straight answers to my questions. When I pressed him for clarifications he basically said "that's all I have to say about that topic". So he WON'T be getting my vote.

Randy Russell might be a better candidate, I just don't know as much about him.

Don't take my word for it though, do your own research and contact the campaigns yourself.

I just talked to Dr. Russell and he said he likes Dr. Paul and actually had Dr. Paul talk at a meeting he had for physicians some time back. Claims to have the endorsement of the constitution party as they chose to not run a candidate since Russell was running. Seems to be pretty sincere. Likes Dr. Paul. When I asked him about Iraq though he seems a little reluctant to say we need to just get out. I told him that as long as we have the 2nd amendment, we need not be afraid of "terrists"...

I hope Greg Davis is a good candidate, because he won.

Greg Davis defeated Glen McCullough 51% to 49%, and this coming on top of the fact that Greg Davis' father had a bad stroke last week that kept Greg Davis from campaigning the last few days.

I hope he will be able to defeat his Democratic challenger, Travis Childress, in November. The Democrats had over 36,000 people turn out for the run-off election, while the Republicans only had 32,000 people vote.

So is Greg Davis the real deal?
We have McCay here in the 4th district - if Davis is one of us then that is great.
Need to get the MU members to support these guys.

We need to get a buzz going. It is a little flat out there right now.

For Freedom!
