Lets flush this idea out on what day we should do this.

I like May 22nd. I made a blog post about it here: http://www.intheory.tv/ (http://www.intheory.tv/?p=148)

If you agree with the idea spread the idea around. DIGG the post or make your own and get it seen by the people who will go. Let the free market of ideas decide this.

Here is the text from my post:

Ron Paul speaks to his supporters using YouTube. Alerting people signed up to his campaign’s email list on the night February 11th, Ron Paul share a link to a 14 minute video. He explains the goal and how far we have come and how far we still need to go. Stating that as long as new people join the cause and money comes in the campaign will continue. At the end he explains his idea of a march on Washington. That it is putting our freedom movement on the line. If no one shows it will show the Lame Stream Media and our detractors will claim that we were nothing but some ‘phantom’ internet glitch. Let’s show them what we got! Ron Paul said this needs to happen in 3 to 4 months. July 4th is a nice date, but it is too late. Memorial day is easy because of the day off, but again the Senate will not be there. We need to go when business is taking place to show those people that we mean business. I purpose that we make sure that when we go when both houses are in session and Washington DC is doing business.

How about Thursday May 22nd?

I love skeet's idea for the June 21, 1788 (http://www.brainyhistory.com/events/1788/june_21_1788_44185.html) U.S. Constitution goes into effect as New Hampshire is 9th to ratify.

Ratification of the Constitution.

A Constitution March on Sat., Jun 21, 2008!

For an earlier one if that one is too late:

The day the Constitutional Convention Convened!:

A possible suggestion: May 25 (a Sunday--the day before Memorial Day Holiday): 1787 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1787) - In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia%2C_Pennsylvania), delegates convene a Constitutional Convention (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Convention) to write a new Constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Constitution) for the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States). George Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington) presides.

It's more than 90 days away. It's in the middle of a three day weekend, but not on a holiday. It's about the Constitution--about taking the first step in creating it. It's after the kids are out of college.

I can understand the pull for a day that we all have off like Memorial day... but people are going to be doing there own thing and not paying attention to the news. Everybody will be on vacation mode.

I think that a bigger statement would be made of doing it on a Thursday. People would see the sacrifice and it would show that we mean business when the DC crowd is doing business.

The numbers are what matter, and I don't think we'll have as great a number if we do this on a Thursday.

I think Memorial Day weekend (some time during it, and I think colecrowe's suggestion to do it on that Sunday is wonderful for its symbolic reasons) is excellent. Most students will be out of college, and it will allow numbers so great that the media will be talking about this rally far after Memorial Day is over...

PS: I think the forums should hold a grand day for a poll. Spam youtube and all the other major sites to tell everyone to register for these forums and vote. Clearly, the day with the most support from actual supporters would be the best day to accomplish this march.

I've proposed May 17th in the other thread. Tax day is bad for students who are taking finals in April and we don't want memorial day or July 4th because we don't want our march confused with anything else. We don't want the memorial day march or the july 4th march. We want the Ron Paul Revolution March.

May 17th is after finals for most college students and it is a Saturday so most people have time off and it's an ordinary run of the mill Saturday so no one can possibly mistake it with something else. We need our own day. No need for this day to be a symbolic day. It will be symbolic enough regardless of date.

QFT.
