Stealing the date from this thread:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=118749&page=2
and pushing it with it's own header.

June 7, 2008 or 6-7-8 for the march, its a saturday and schools are already closed.

this is it, perfect date. Date doesn't have to be on a history importance date. This is good, it's on a weekend, far enough ahead to plan well..

June is a sweet spot. School is out and plenty of time to promote and save up.

6/7/8 is GREAT! (June 7, 1893 - Gandhi's first act of civil disobedience.)

Big thumbs down. No symbolism. Will Fail.

It will have symbolism after we have something to do with it.

If we have it on a holiday that's celebrated in D.C., we will just be ignored and will not stand out. We need a day completely to ourselves.

I support 6-7-8

Date doesn't have to be on a history importance date. .

Tell that to the graveyard of unfulfilled moneybombs we put on random days or on days not clearly associated with liberty historically.

We need the equivalent of a 10M dollar day to pull this off.

Independence day is that day.

This should be a day without historical significance....

Because... WE can make history.

After that day, it will THEN have historical significance.

Future Wikipedia Entry:

06/07/08 - True Liberty Day (March in DC)

Or whatever.

Keep in mind, any day that is already a major recognized holiday, like July 4th, will be hell to book flights and get hotel rooms. The airports and roads will also be packed with holiday travellers.

Another big thumbs down for June whatever, 2008. And I agree a holiday in D.C. not so good.... Date needs to be significant, though. I vote "Theft" Day, April 15th.

I love skeet's idea for the June 21, 1788 (http://www.brainyhistory.com/events/1788/june_21_1788_44185.html) U.S. Constitution goes into effect as New Hampshire is 9th to ratify.

Ratification of the Constitution.

A Constitution March on Sat., Jun 21, 2008!

A MORE PERFECT UNION: AMERICA BECOMES A NATION

For an earlier one if that one is too late:

May 25, The day the Constitutional Convention Convened!: (a Sunday--the day before Memorial Day Holiday): May 25, 1787 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1787) - In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia%2C_Pennsylvania), delegates convene a Constitutional Convention (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Convention) to write a new Constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Constitution) for the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States). George Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington) presides.

It's more than 90 days away. It's in the middle of a three day weekend, but not on a holiday. It's about the Constitution--about taking the first step in creating it. It's after the kids are out of college.

eb I'm pretty sure guns are completely illegal to own in DC. Kinda funny our nation's capitol doesn't allow people to practice their 2nd amendment right. Go figure.

Anyway I agree that any holiday would be horrible. We will not stand out at all. People will think oh look a bunch of people are marching for July 4th or oh look people are marching for our vets! We want people to say "Wait what? Why are they marching? Oh? Ron Who? Ron Paul? Who's He? Freedom? Peace? Free Market? Sign me up!"

The Gahndi thing is great! 6/7/08 is the perfect date for a march on Washington! I think we should be emphasising the message of peace here, for it is in the message of peace we have the most allies. Our country has shown, in its recent past, a proclivity towards peace marches. The fact is people are fed up about this War! We all know its wrong and our government has responded with "tough luck." If we go to Washington and demand an end to this unconstitutional war we very well might get one million people...

School is out for SOME. I'm a teacher in Texas ( Ron's Home State). Even though it's a weekend.....we're not quite out of school yet.:( I'd really want to go, but it would be super difficult to fly for one day----especially since my sister and family would likely go as well and it would be good to spend time with them too? Grrrrrrr!

You must've just arrived here with the morning crew. At first most of us liked the 7th, but then it turns out there is a festival going on that whole week, it's gay pride week in DC and there will be 200,000 people there. We don't want to be overshadowed by another event and also, many parents won't want to take young children there during a gay pride festival.

Also, as others have said, not all schools are out that early. So now, many of us have gone for June 21st, the day the constitution was legalized. Also, the longest day of the year, and ALL schools are out by then. :)
