the first battle in the War of Independence. The shot heard round the world. The first first battle of the Revolution, and the first American victory of the war.

Lexington and Concord.

It could not be more perfect.

A great event to commemorate. More importantly, its on a weekend and roughly two months away. Certainly the best suggested so far.

I like April 19th. It's a crucial day in Revolutionary history.

i like the idea of symbolism...

but the fact of the matter is we just straight up want as MANY FEET ON THE GROUND there as possible. we need to make it on the most accessible date, not the most symbolic.

we can give a new date new symbolism.

I like it. that or Tax day (april 15). Catch people in a tax protesting mood.

April 15 is on a Wednesday. By summer break, there will be a lot more people who just don't care anymore, and I'm sorry, having seen Iowa and NH, and personally seen Charleston SC and Tuscaloosa AL, college students (with a few very notable exceptions) can't be trusted to get off their backside and vote, much less march on DC.

What do we get by waiting for the summer, 10% fewer people from cooling off, but 1% more people because school's out? I don't think it will help.
