Ok...

Signed up as a precinct leader in Diamondhead, Ms..population appox. 10,000...Mostly military residents as we are located between Stennis Space Center(NASA) and Keesler AFB..Alot of older republicans.I have been given the west end of this community...And I own a pet store in the shopping area here...

Here is my problem...

Diamondhead is controlled by the Property Owners Assoc...and will not allow canvassing or any door to door solicting...Security would be called immediately...No signage is allowed...Period..The phone records I recieved from the site is really outdated.

I have lit in my store and signage but my landlord said he has gotten complaints..

Any suggestions?

Try mailers! And include a way for them to contact you.

I heard in most states you can pick up a registered voter database CD-ROM at your county clerk's office. It will have the most up-to-date phone records of voters in your area.

Make a sign for your pet store... PET OWNERS FOR RON PAUL or POOCHES FOR PAUL and post photos of every 4 legged baby you can find. I'll send ya photos of mine to put up there... that's 13 to start.

Well, work by night would be one suggestion. Throw stuff in mail boxes. Another would be to go to whoever does your newspapers and, with Sunday ads, throw Ron Paul ads/slim jims in there. You'll probably want to make sure the information includes the fact that Ron Paul has recieved more donations from the military than every candidate combined.

You could get bumper stickers, put those out everywhere. You could have meetup group members write letters to the editors of your newspapers or television stations asking to be covered or detailing why Ron Paul should get more attention. You could go to radio stations, talk to their managers, ask if you could leave literature and if they could offer it on air. That might be a bad one though . . .

You could buy a bunch of little pre-wrapped boxes, put Ron Paul stuff in them, and do a mass delivery over night and say it's from a certain "Paulitical Santa". Or, you could somehow sneak them into a movie theater or restaurant and leave 'em there. You could give your costumers a free "package", and when they open it have it have a coupon or two with Ron Paul literature. You could also get a DVD, my experience with those were that people thought they were more present-like and cool to have . . .

Go to a book store with a purse full of Ron Paul slim jims and jam 'em into as many political books as possible. You could go to the library, DVD store and do this also. AND, think about the mall, maybe you could get a stand in there for people to get free information or something. Gun shops or restaurants could go with topic-related slim-jims, etc.

I don't know . . . Emphasize that he is the original Republican party, that the current version is a warped form of this country's original message and original Republican party, and that the military donations speak for themselves.

Gooooooooooooood luck, keep us updated on what works and what doesn't, too.

(OH: AND, find out whoever runs your city ordinances and such, try and convert them :))

Use mailers, include as much as you can into an envelope with 1 stamp on it. Cuts costs that way.

Also not sure about newspapers-- would some night time newspaper runs be acceptable? Pref for Sundays.

Do NOT put things in mailboxes, that is ILLEGAL !

I like the idea of a mailing, even if it means springing $$ for a CD of voters.

YOU could do that, but if you do try and get as much attention as possible from it. :D . . . Call news and newspapers. Mwa hahaha . . . Then, if they go, pass out stuff to them.

I've seen caravans in my neighborhood advertising a furniture store. They were extremely effective. It was 3 or 4 cars with giant brightly colored signs on top. Google car top advertising

Make a nice postcard, with a picture of RP in his Air Force uniform, and use a few bullet points about his receiving more contribs from active duty military than all others combined, his wanting to bring the troops home now, his military record, etc.

It costs about $50 for 250 post cards, or about $100 for 1000 post cards and mailing them is $.26 each. People don't have to open post cards so they will get some of the message even if they just toss it out. :)

Other than mailing postcards, you could=

1. Leave slimjims/flyers in coffeeshop newspaper areas or other restaurants where people might eat breakfast and read the paper
2. Flyer cars at libraries, bookstores, malls, events
3. Set up a booth at a farmers market
4. Leave slimjims in doctor's offices, emergency room waiting areas, free newspaper racks, church bulletin boards, barber/beauty shops etc
5. get your shop receipts printed with ron paul info on the reverse

Does Comcast run local TV spots in DiamondHead? If so contact Comcast tomorrow and get them to email their Political Rate sheets which will tell you which channels they insert on as well as the costs. Probably $3-$7 per spot like in Bay St Louis on MediaCom.
Appropriate stations: CNN, MSNBC, USA, TNT, Weather Channel

TV Ads available to grassroots:

Mailers
Local advertising (newspapers, real estate booklets, etc.)
Sponsor local events (little league, antique/craft show)
Canvass outside the zone but where the zone people gather (market, mall)
Create your own event (rent mall kiosk, play DVDs, holiday-themed face-painting for kids)

Have lunches at local diners - talk to whoever runs the counter and ask to leave slim jims.

I would try door-drops anyway - It is not soliciting, it is distributing, and many communities recognize the difference. If they throw you out after you get halfway down the first street - at least you got half a street.

If you get more confident in an area, start knocking on doors (still not soliciting - "canvassing" is the term you want to use).

Just canvas anyway, its not like the no soliciting signs stop the Jehovah witness or the Kirby vacume salespeople. Its not like a rent a cop can give you a ticket or through you in jail.

What might help is to have two people canvasing starting in different parts of the community communicate by cell phone, you could play a really fun game of cat and mouse with the security guys, heck you might even make RP delegates out of the security guys, Just be nice to them and have fun with it.

In my corporate life we would often cold call large office buildings we would have one guy start on the top floor and one on the bottom and hit floors in a random sequence. If security found one of us we would call our co-worker and tel him were we left off. The co-worker word head to that floor while security was escorting me out of the building, security would then have to go back after the other solicitor and I would start on a different floor. it can be a lot of fun, and they can't arrest you they are security guards.
