Why, why, why! Why did that guy go on cspan and claim cheating, as opposed to claiming the uncommitted delegates and pointing out that the delegate count is what mattered, and not the presidential preference poll beauty contest among people who did not get elected delegates.

All this guy had to say was "Go to Clarkcountygop.org, and click on caucus results. You will see that although Paul lost the meaningless straw poll, he won the delegate count by a handy margin. This is typical of the state as a whole. In addition, the Spokane results, which Ron paul won by somewhere in the neighborhood of 26% according to the KHQ site at www.khq.com. It is at the very top of the page in the red. That might put Ron Paul in first even in the beauty contest after the results are 100% instead of 87%. Normally that is a big swing, but a 26% win in a city that size can do it."

It would have been far more effective than talking about vote fraud, that frankly in this case, is not happening. I say we commit the above to memory, and spend all day saying it.

Rightcoast, are you saying that the media is reporting the results of the Straw Poll rather than the results of the Caucus, where votes by elected delegates are recorded?

If I understand your comment correctly, then what information do you have that this same error is occurring in counties other than Clark County?

CLARK COUNTY GOP CAUCUS RESULTS
02/09/08

Voters flowed into precinct caucus locations all over Clark County. People came out of their neighborhoods to have an opportunity to cast their vote in a Presidential Straw poll and to discuss issues important to Clark County, our State and our Nation.

A main objective for many was to enter their names onto the ballot in their precinct and be elected to become delegates who go onto the County Convention being held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Prairie High School.

Attendees were given the option of declaring what Presidential candidate they preferred. Those elected to be delegates made these choices:

Ron Paul 224

Huckabee 211

Romney 184

McCain 151

Uncommitted 88

The results of the Straw Poll (which includes all those in attendance who may or may not be a delegate)

Huckabee 407

McCain 329

Paul 319

Romney 313

Thompson 14

Uncommitted 6

Hunter 3

Guiliani 2

Keyes 2

Those who did not attend the caucus, have another opportunity to participate in the selection of our nominee for President. If you are a registered voter in Clark County you should have received a Presidential Preference Ballot in the mail. Remember, you must only vote for ONE PARTY, and ONE Presidential candidate.

The purpose of this Primary vote is to allow the Republican Party, by a vote of those who declare themselves to be Republicans , to choose their Party's Presidential candidate who will run against the Democrat candidate in November.

Independents and other voters who wish to cast a vote for one of the Republican candidates in this Primary are not obligated to vote Republican in the November General Election. In the General Election in November you are free to vote for anyone in any Party that you choose. Naturally we hope you will still want to cast your vote for the Republican nominee.
So, be sure to return your ballot no later than February 19, 2008, which is the official Presidential Primary date.

why did he call cheating? b/c once again we caught them red handed AGAIN. If there is no action taken for each time we get shafted then what would lead them to stop vote fruad? We must take a stand somewhere better now then never.

What specifically has anyone been "caught" doing? Aside from not counting fast enough, and making a "mistaken" projection, should it turn out Paul actually wins the beauty contest, as well as delegates.

I've heard alternating reports that what is being reported are the the write in preferences for the candidates that people put when they first get there, which are a beaty contest and nothing more ... or that what are being reported are early ballots, and nothing about the caucus whatsoever.

Hard to tell from here, but either way, its not accurate as far as our purposes (delegates) are concerned.

They said this morning that counting would continue today.

How long does it take to count a few thousand votes?
