Can Some Of You Give Suggestions.....for later....

We are having our mass precinct caucus meetings to choose delegates in Georgia on the 16th. Can those of you who caucused today give some suggestions how what worked vs. what didn't...

like......how stealthy to be....how open to be....how are people responding to certain things? Let me know....THANKS!:confused:

Be informed on RP vs. other candidates on positions likely to be ones people hold important. One lady from my precinct showed up because she got a phone call from Huckabee yesterday telling her to show up. We totally had the precinct wrapped up for RP, so her vote wouldn't have mattered, but I and others spent some time with her comparing/contrasting the positions of the two candidates and she ended up seeming pretty favorable to RP. I gave her literature and we got her name/number to contact her about meetups and local activism. Know Dr. Paul's position on nearly every issue. The fact that he's a Dr. who has delivered thousands of babies goes over really well with everyone. People who have met him can comment on his openness and how gracious/humble he is, how he makes time to talk to everyone and you feel so comfortable around him. Lots of people factor character into their choice, and it's important to demonstrate RP isn't a "typical politician".

Our meetup had signs out all over campus where the pooled caucus was held, and had a RP table right as you entered the meeting area with signs, literature, stickers, etc. Ours was held in a library, so no snacks allowed, but cookies, etc. would be a great draw if you can have it where your caucus is held. You have to gauge support for RP in your area to know whether or not you need to be stealthy. If you feel RP supporters may not be well received, you might have someone who is NOT running for delegate from a precinct that has a lot of RP supporters man the table, and the rest of you keep scarce to improve your chances of being a delegate. Then once you are all in and separated by precinct, try to get a feel for who the others support and decide if you can safely divulge your support for RP. The downside to not declaring your commitment for RP, you also are not able to openly discuss why others should be for RP -- many who turn out for the caucus still aren't hard supporters and can be swayed. If you feel it's a lost cause, just say you'd really like to be a delegate and have the experience of the GOP nomination process. If they aren't familiar with the process or the importance of being a delegate, they will often let you just to be nice, since most people don't want to have to attend additional meetings, etc.

Also, bring with you the names/numbers/addresses of known RP supporters to the caucus. In our pooled caucus, we successfully got people who DID NOT EVEN ATTEND to be elected as delegates, simply by letting the people who DID attend from those precincts know that they really wanted to be elected, but couldn't attend because of work/commitments/etc. Be nice and just say that they'd really appreciate being considered despite their absence. Make it sound like it means a lot. (It does!) In some of these precincts, there were spots that would have gone unfilled because not enough people from the precinct showed up, and in others, the attending precinct members voted in the person who was absent just because they didn't care about having to go to the county caucus.
