The very nature of our insurgent movement has been to campaign from the bottom up, why shouldn't we continue that trend?

So it looks like our campaign to secure the highest office in the nation is faltering, and while I don't believe we should quit canvassing, donating, voting, and supporting Ron Paul's presidential bid, I believe that it's time for the network we have built up to focus on electing local Ron Paul republicans. The Ron Paul Revolution will be able to continue promoting the ideas of liberty when Dr. Paul is long gone.

I think the national grassroots should focus on the presidential campaign, the grassroots in texas will take care of his congressional campaign like they always have, along with Ron Paul's direct efforts.

We should donate money to both efforts.

Ron Paul having a congressional seat in congress resulted in no changes to our foreign policy, infringement of civil liberties, or monetary policy. He was ignored and often voted alone. Going back to that congressional seat is not why I sent him money or spent time supporting him. He needs to run 3rd party in order to set the GOP straight. Either he'll win as a third party candidate or he'll prevent the GOP from winning with liberal John McCain. Either way he can demonstrate to the GOP once and for all that it can either move back to its conservative base or become irrelevant. Ron Paul is in the perfect position to win a third party run. McCain is hated by Republicans. Hillary is hated by everyone. Now is the time.

I agree. This is what I'm doing. Unfortunately, there are many here who will call you a troll for this and that's just wrong. We're all supporting the same man and the same message here. Getting enough Ron Paul Republicans in Congress to make a difference would be huge.

I hope that after the primary is over this board will still be swarming with news about Ron Paul congressmen taking back the government from the bottom down.

The Defend the District money bomb for the congressional race is happening TODAY! Ron Paul still needs $194K by the end of the weekend.

http://defendthedistrict.com/

The propaganda being released by his opponent is spurring on the money bomb. Be sure to view an example of it in this thread.

Ron Paul doesn't need to run 3rd party to destroy the GOP. The GOP is finding plenty of ways to do it on their own. Years of bad policy, poor candidates, partisan back-patting, betrayed confidence, disenchanted ex-Republicans, lies, wars, and corporate greed are all doing their toll to the Republican Party and have been coming to fruition in the last few years. Paul has not been able to rally the base of the party to see his cause because many begrudgingly believe the Bush administration propaganda. If McCain gets the nomination there are many who hold he will not win the presidency. After 8 years of Bush, the Democrats are going to be pulling a big win, especially if Obama wins the Dem nom. Many conservatives will not simply stop voting Republican....at least not this election year. They fear a Dem win and that is the exact reason why they won't vote for Paul. Party territory struggle wins the day. I don't see how battling over .1%-10% of the national vote is a better strategy than securing a seat in the House, even if Ron Paul is just one vote in Congress.

The grassroots in states that have already voted should put efforts into educating the public about liberty candidates running for Congress on Paul's platform in their districts. Ron Paul doesn't have to be one man, one vote if we can get other candidates into Congress.

Yer dead wrong. Ron NOW will have the most powerful voice in Congress and every bill he tables or speech he makes will fly around the intertubes at light speed. This is a whole new ballgame and Ron has the bully pulpit. Your strategy will ensure a talk show and speaking engagement circuit where they will never stop asking him why he failed against a rigged system. The new RP Republicans will be left in the breach without their leader in proximity. He can establish one hell of a coalition if the nomination slides for 2008 and set him in prime position to tsunami landslide the country in 2012.. Why do you want to kill this? Where are you from? What is your goal? To win the battle or put a thumbtack on the teachers seat?.

So think about this and store the third party rhetoric. It is divisive and it is not just Republicans you are pissing off. Tell ya what. You run third party in your district and see how far you get. A cold shower of reality is what I would expect..then maybe yoour rhetoric will get more focused on the real goal. Changing history.
