I recently signed up as a Precinct Leader, and am about to start calling my neighbors. I'm planning on using the official phone script, to find out people's political persuasions, and not mention Ron Paul (besides in the list of candidates) until the batch of "conversion" calls.

It starts out with: "Hello. I'm Mark with Wisconsin Primary Preference Research. May I please speak with..."

I'm afraid that saying I'm with "Primary Preference Research" might turn a lot of people off, though. It sounds like I'm soliciting something, to me at least. So I'm wondering . . . does this sort of intro work well with the rest of you callers? Do you have something better to say instead?

And what should I tell people if they ask me why I want to know? Should I tell them I'm really volunteering for Ron Paul?
