Please note that I will post further instructions as we get farther along in the KY Delegate Process. Right now, we’re going to focus on the County Mass Conventions and enlisting delegates and voters at this convention.
Kentucky County Mass Conventions will be held at each county’s court house on Saturday, March 15th. At 10:00 AM. If for some reason the time or location needs to be changed, a notification should be published in your county newspaper no less than 15 days before the convention and no more than 28 days before (on or between February 16th and 29th). However, just to be safe, I would keep an eye out for changes.
The County Mass Convention
The County Mass Convention serves two functions:
1. Take care of Republican-party business in your county, which will include electing Chairpersons and committees. This is not a part of the delegate process, so unless you want to get involved in your county’s politics don’t worry about this.
2. Elect county delegates who will go to either the State or District Convention. If you become a county delegate, you are simply committing to going to either the State or District Convention and be a VOTER. What you will get to vote on is who will become the Delegates to the National Convention.....as well as other party business.
We need to get as many Ron Paul-loving delegates elected at the County Mass Conventions as possible. If we have the majority there, then we will have the majority vote on who becomes our Nation Convention Delegates.
Note: You must have registered as Republican on or before January 29th 2008 to participate in your County Mass Convention.
What we need to be doing right now and why we’re doing it…..
Right now, KY Ron Paul supporters need to be signing up as Precinct Leaders by going to www.ronpaul2008.com (Select Get Involved > Precinct Leader). By becoming a Precinct Leader, you are merely saying that you will go out and talk to folks in your precinct about Ron Paul and his message. When you to sign up, you have access to numerous videos and documents that will coach you through this process. It’s really no biggie, and of course, it is the most SUCCESSFUL way to gain more Ron Paul supporters. I can speak from experience!!! I have no previous experience, just a firm belief in Freedom and Liberty!!
By talking to people, you can identify other Ron Paul supports who may want to become delegates at your County Mass Convention or people who will vote for you to become a delegate.
I generally keep track of those I talk to in my Precinct as well as their phone numbers, and I try to get them involved in voting at the County Mass Convention. If they seem interested in Ron Paul, I ask if they would mind if I call them back the week before the County Mass Convention in the event they would like to vote for me as a delegate. You would be surprise how many are willing.
While I support the Precinct Leader route because it is the proven, successful route, if you are firmly opposed to becoming a Precinct leader, you can still get involved.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at gr8harle@gmail.com. If we cannot resolve the issue through e-mail, we can always jump on a phone call. It’s very important that every has the necessary information.
In Liberty, Peace, and Prosperity,
Veronica
