One candidate pledged for Paul in VI

We have one delegate candidate pledged for Ron Paul here in the Virgin Islands. I don't think it'll be hard to get this delegate elected, it'll only take a few votes. I would guess turnout for the Republicans will be anywhere from 100-200 people.

The deadline for declaration has passed, but as the caucuses approach on April 5th it'll be worth looking into getting possible write-in candidates for Paul. There are also a bunch of delegates for Romney that will now be looking for someone to support, and apparently 8 undecided.

As far as winning the straw poll, which would give us one of those elusive 5 states for the convention, it's going to be an uphill battle. People here basically see the MSM coverage on CNN, etc. and probably don't know much about Paul.

I can't think of much you guys could do, but I'm getting to work. I've got some supplies on the way, and I'm going to try to target some of the party bigwigs here, since they have an inordinate amount of influence in the VI. Hopefully if I can plant the seeds, some of these uncommitted/Romney delegates will go to Paul. I'm thinking about putting some signs up, but since there are hardly any Republicans around, I don't think it would really do much good.

I visited the Democratic caucuses today. Turnout was shockingly good, there were 214 votes in on St. Croix when I left at 1:00, and polls were open until 7:00. I would estimate that about 1500-2000 people voted throughout the territory, which blows me away.

That said, even if turnout is proportionally as good for the Republicans, we'd only get 200 people voting.

We need to find someone to work on the ground in St. Thomas. There are about 800 Republicans here on St. Croix compared to 2000+ in St. Thomas, so there is work to be done over there.
