This site is setting up a petition for people to pledge not to vote for McCain. This is a perfect time to strike against the establishment GOP. This needs to happen soon, and in a big way if Ron Paul is going to have a chance in a brokered convention. If we can weaken the position of John McCain, it comes down to Huck vs. Paul.

Sorry but there is not point in doing this. Those who we can reach most easily are almost exclusively not voting for McCain (probably Obama or Hillary), so our message would only reaffirm their choice in candidate. Then you to consider there simply isn't enough time, viral campaigning takes time, that is something we don't have. Last, unless Obama gets the dem nom (I can at least stomach him), I see no point in rolling out the red carpet for Hillary, I don't see how she would be an improvement over McCain, so I don't se the point of wasting effort attacking McCain.

This isn't a post about rolling over and accepting defeat, I'm calling for us to better utilize our limited resources. Instead of fruitlessly attacking McCain who is almost sure to loose the general election, lets focus on getting local small government candidates elected. There are pockets where Ron Paul is very popular, areas where we could fairly easy elect a Ron Paul like politician to a high state position or in some case to a seat in Congress or the Senate.

We may not be spreading the message of liberty quite as far as we hoped in '08, but if we can get several Ron Paul like politicians elected to lower offices its at least a start.

Attacking his military record is pointless imo. I know there are people here who for various reasons think his military record is bad - I have no idea who is right or wrong. But the media and most people consider him a war hero - attacking him would hurt us. We have plenty of other ammo:

Amnesty for illegals
Healthcare in Mexico
Having not a clue on economics at this difficult period
Is unwilling to reduce the size of government
Attacks on 1st and 2nd amendment
