Straw-poll voting looks secure. But the caucuses? (http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070809/OPINION01/708090364/-1/NEWS04)

There's a spat brewing inside the Iowa Republican Party over the counting of results in Saturday's straw poll in Ames.

Some Ron Paul supporters are worried that the count won't be honest and that results could be hacked or manipulated so their guy shows poorly.

Bring up the "Twilight Zone" music here. State GOP officials say some of these folks are paranoid. They say Paul is probably going to do poorly on his own, and the complaints are just an attempt to discredit and cloud what is likely to be a crummy finish.

Ames Straw Poll Gets Legal Challenge (http://www.kcci.com/politics/13851881/detail.html)

This weekend's Republican Straw poll is being challenged.

That comes from a national group that is threatening legal action over the voting machines that the Republican Party of Iowa is using.

A supporter of Republican candidate Ron Paul, who is not connected to the campaign, made the legal threat, NewsChannel 8 reported.

Paul said he doesn't know anything about a possible lawsuit and would not want one if it's frivolous.

"Everyone wants an honest election. So if there's a question, this is the time the question should be asked," Paul said.

Yes sir, if they are folks in favor of the unconstitutional "North American Partnership Agreement" treaty of the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" along with the Unconstitutional NAFTA treaty.

That is who is opposing him. Them and anyone else who has never read the Constitution of the United States and agree that it is indeed the best method of establishing a fair system of government, disagree with him.

The Republican Party of Iowa will host the Iowa Straw Poll on August 11, however, the voting procedure will be conducted with the assistance and oversight of the Story County Auditor's Office with assistance from the State Auditor's Office.
So, let's take a closer look at the Story County Auditor's Office.
Checking their website, we find the chief auditor is one Mary Mosiman!

Now, we pay a visit to Mitt Romney's website and sure enough, we find Mary Mosiman listed as a member of the Romney for President leadership team!

So of course the mainstream media assures us that anyone concerned for the accuracy of this Saturday's Straw Poll is just being "paranoid." - M. R.

New article. Not sure if it's been posted but it's very interesting. Looks like the issue is making small waves. Waves nonetheless.

I just had a humorous thought:

When Dr. Paul does surprisingly well in the straw poll, he should honor William F. Buckley's mayoral bid quip: when asked what he'd do if he won, he replied, "Demand a recount.":D

There is nothing HUMOROUS about Yepsen's article !!! There is nothing humorous about people on this forum still giving off the idea that Dr. Paul should win the straw poll.

Dr. Paul is currently ninth in polling in Iowa as annouced to the nation on the ABC Debate. As reported in another thread during Jennifers recent effort in the call Iowa for RP, out of one thousand calls to Iowa residents ONLY 8 people had ever heard of him. Those 8 didn't really know his policies on the major issues. The vast majority of people still don't know the man ! If Dr. Paul finishes better than ninth he needs to declare victory. In Presidential politics you must EXCEED EXPECTATIONS.

That's all Dr. Paul had to do was finish better than ninth, now we have the major political reporter of the largest newspaper in Iowa saying RP supporters are "KOOKS" because of this CRAP :o !!! Ron Paul had been to Iowa 2 times this year before this last minute effort this week. Some opponents have almost lived in Iowa for weeks. Romney has spent more money in Iowa alone for this straw poll than RP has raised for his entire campaign. And people are on here expecting and talking victory for RP in the straw poll. It would be HUMOROUS if it wasn't so very, very sad. I understand most of these people don't really know much about "real" politics, but some of you do. I think it is very detrimental to the RP cause to feed this illusion of so many people. You always underestimate your expectations in presidential primary politics. For a victory in this straw poll all Ron Paul has to do is finish higher than where he is polling. EXCEED EXPECTATIONS.

All this talk of victory fed the increase in expectations for many supporters and they will surely be "let down" HARD if RP is defeated by most of the field. However if expectations were kept in check and even underestimated it would have been a more positive experience for all supporters with a sixth or seventh place. As RP would EXCEED EXPECTATIONS.

Please remember everyone, if Dr. Paul finishes better than ninth place we actually have done WELL in this straw poll. And by exceeding expectations we can claim a small VICTORY and move on toward the true contest this winter.

And hopefully Ron Paul will start a real campaign in NH, SC, NV & FL as he has been running for 5 days now in IA...
