View Full Version : Do voting records become public eventually?

I voted on Tuesday in Clarkstown district 80 in New York. According to the "unofficial" results on the county's official website, no one voted for Ron Paul in that district! I am 100% sure I voted properly for Dr. Paul (it was a simple machine where you slide a red lever to the right to close the curtains, push down a tab for your candidate and slide the red lever back to the left to register the vote and open the curtain).

Will I ever be able to find out if my vote was registered and who they claim I voted for?

This is the website, btw -- http://www.co.rockland.ny.us/BOE/DISTRICT020508.HTM

Thanks for the bump here and in the NY forum. :D

Hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but I think I'm past the point of no return -- nothing would surprise me now.

I would be, yes. I would probably want to contact the county board of elections (I think that's who I'd have to contact, right?) and/or wait for the results to be "official" first, though.

They can pre-emptively get information as to who is voting by paying attention to donations and of course the easy to sign up for precinct caption on RP's website.

You tube, if you have your real name showing support for a blacklisted candidate, give information as to where you live or just have a name that stands out bingo!

Also, Some candidates sell or give who donated info to future candidates. Obama got Kerry's list.

Yea...it seems like the BOE would be the ones to contact. I would call them tomorrow even though the results are not "official" yet.

Remember to document everything....

Who you talk to.
if you can record the conversation, do.
Write down the details after you hang up while things are fresh in your mind, if you cannot record the conversation.

Good luck

Bump for NY recount :D

I posted this in my thread in the NY forum...makes you wonder what is going on (note the only discrepancy is with Dr. Paul's vote count):

Meetup group in your area? See if you can find out how many voted, it may be more than just you.
