An open letter to the canvassers in late primary states and potential donors to the continuing Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign,

We are not doing this to influence debate. We've all heard Ron Paul's words coming out of the mouths of politicians who are just trying to get votes from the libertarian heart of conservatism without changing their own hearts. We are in this to take our country back. That means winning. Would the American Revolutionaries have been satisfied if King George the III had agreed to utter the words "taxation without representation" in exchange for our surrender? No, tyranny cannot be influenced. It is to be defeated.

It is important that Ron Paul have a strong showing in late primary states. The future of the r3VOLution will look back on Dr. Paul's overall performance for inspiration. People who will only join the r3VOLution in future years if they think we can win won't be looking at New Hampshire and Iowa results to gage Ron Paul's viability; they will be looking at his OVERALL performance and continued momentum is one indicator of that performance.

The r3VOLution will continue to progress, but the speed of progress will determine if we are going to turn this country around or just be the last cry for freedom before it is too late. Every new Ron Paul supporter is a supporter for life. Once this hope that Ron Paul's message brings gets out of the box, it will never fit back in.

Let's look at some of the events that make up the r3Volution's future.

Brokered Republican Convention in September 2008

Ron Paul's hope for the Republican nomination of 2008 is a brokered convention in September. A lot has to happen in those six months. It is unlikely any republican will have the number of votes required to lock up the Republican Convention. In those six months, the dollar will continue to fall, the Bush Administration will continue to saber rattle and worse, and new excuses to take away liberty will be invented. In those six months, we will be campaigning and showing the delegates to the convention that there is a solution to our problems.

The media blackout will continue. It has been said that most of the Republican anti-war vote went to McCain in New York. We have six months to show people who didn't know Ron Paul was an option that they have been tricked. Continuing Ron Paul's momentum is important to the case we must make. This momentum will only continue at the cost of a lot of shoe leather.

Congressional Candidates of 2008

I know it feels like the constitutionalist congressional candidates are secondary to the campaign at the moment. They are only secondary in the sense that identifying your potential Ron Paul supporters can be used as a first step in determining who must hear about the congressional candidates running in your district.

Potential Ron Paul supporters are not the only ones who will vote for constitutionalists in Congress. FOX-inspired minds are not being told what to think about their congressional candidates. Even those can be convinced to vote for the constitutionalists.

We also need to campaign for the 2008 congressional candidates that do get on the November ballot, whether they are in our district or not.

Congressional Candidates of 2010

These candidates will be the lifeblood of our movement. They are the most immediate reason that WE MUST NOT DISBAND even for a short time. In fact, when the 2008 campaign is over and it comes time to miss a meetup.com payment, make sure the last thing you do is let the constitutionalist congressional candidates for 2008 know your contact information. These candidates and many more by 2010 will need us to campaign for them in 2009.

We can actually sweep Congress in 2010. Most voters only vote every four years. Whatever happens in 2008, we can take over this half of one branch of the federal government, not counting 1/3 of Senate seats.

Continuing to canvass today is how you will identify the Patriots who will help us sweep Congress in 2010. The voters you identify today will be the first people you call next year to campaign for the 2010 candidates.

Presidential race of 2012 to overthrow a non-Ron Paul Republican

A Republican president would be the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for the 2012 presidential election. Voter turn-out is low in these cases. If Ron Paul is not the president at that time, low voter turn-out is our opportunity to give him another shot. The key in this case is to gather the storm of Ron Paul voters quickly so that the Republican Establishment doesn't have time for the "get out the vote" efforts that have been waged in primary states this year when it has appeared Ron Paul would win.

This quick campaigning is why we need those lists of potential Ron Paul voters. Because the overthrow needs to happen at the last minute, a good showing in early primary states is possibly a bad thing. The list of potential Ron Paul voters for the LATE primary states are actually more important in this scenario than the list for the early primary states.

Presidential race of 2012 to overthrow a Democrat

This would be a straightforward campaign very similar to this 2008 campaign. The differences would be that we will have a very immediate argument for our case that Ron Paul is the only anti-war candidate and our movement will be larger at best or we would be picking up the momentum where we left off at worst. Picking up where we left off is very important and the lists you create from canvassing this year will again be the first people you call to gather the Patriots for more canvassing.

Later elections

I don't want to even think about what this country may look like if the current trends are not reversed. Get out and canvass now because you need those lists to make your campaigning quick and responsive to turn things around before it is too late.

Sincerely,
D. Pappas
