This site is great. It even tells you who they donated to. If I can get motivated enough to do it I plan to send one type of letter to people who had supported Bush in 04 and a different type of letter to those who supported Kerry in 04. It is a good thing that Ron Paul has such wide appeal.

If I wanted to take an easy route, does anyone know where to download a .pdf file that has already been prepared that is geared toward Republicans and one that is geared toward Democrats?

Interesting site. You can also locate people who gave money to the other minor candidates like Hunter and Tancredo... these could be good people to send Paul literature to. If they were willing to give money to long shots based on principle, they could be future Paul supporters.

Odd, it's missing some people I know in my Zip that have given sizably and were reported under the official website.

I'm not sure how "new" it is but that's not important. What *IS* important is that everyone understand there are impermissible uses of FEC data (solicitations, etc.). Just to make it fun, the FEC will "seed" the data with false information. If you contact them you are busted and they prosecute. Obviously, looking up info on your neighbors or something for personal interest is within bounds.

Um... it doesn't show me. But it shows

$295 Obama
$500 Huckabee
$300 Hillary

EWWWWWW

This is BS, btw. No Ron Paul? There should be 3.3 million for Ron Paul.

What are the restrictions? This is the first time I have cared enough about a candidate to even think about writing a letter to ask someone to vote for him.

I just put in Rupert Murdoch and got back:

Chairman & C.E.O.
Fox Entertainment Group Inc.
RNC$25,000
2004

This might be interesting.

I wonder is there anyway to get a hold of the Bucannan supporters from years past? I think they could be people that would be willing to give to Ron Paul.

So that's where Barry Manilow lives...

I'm finding that Dr Paul's contributors aren't on here. At least, none that I can see.

ugh i'm not showing up because my second donation was not counted either by Paul's campaign or the FCC. Hmmm

Edit: Actually, I should still show with the first donation, either this isn't up-to-date or they left me out, maybe because I gave money to Paul?

It seems the fundrace.org database is not up to date. For Ron Paul, it only includes contributions through March (the first quarter).

If you want the latest data, it's best to go straight to the source (http://www.fec.gov), from which you can download the raw data files and search them any way you like.

Honestly, I don't believe that these people (for the most part) will be great potential donor prospects. If you look at opensecrets.org, you'll see that almost 75% of the campaign contributions come from the top 10 zip codes.

These are people who are buying washington. They want specific laws passed.

We are better off targeting people with money who will be receptive to the idea of freedom.
