Sso I showed up tonight at my caucus precinct. All the folks I convinced to vote for Ron Paul via canvassing and my parents ended up being in other precincts, so I could only wave accross the room at them.
I ended up in a precinct of 18 people, and 14 of them were ONE mormon family. I kid you not. It was 2 married couples and thier combined 10 children all of which were over 18. I live in a suburb of Denver, so I was not expecting this at all.
In the end, thier family nominated themselves for the state, congressional, and judicial conventions delegates without even taking a vote since they were 14 out of 18 strong.
The straw poll went:
Romney: 14
Paul: 2
Huckabee: 1
McCain: 1
However, I did take a county delegate position before I even decalared myself to be for Ron Paul. After they nominated me as one of the 3 county seats, they asked me who I was voting for and I replied, Ron Paul. They wanted to RE-VOTE then, just to put one of thier family up against me, so I would lose my seat, but I harshly told them that we had already voted and I would pitch a huge fit to the GOP if they did a re-vote. They agreed to let me keep my seat.
So yeah, it was rather depressing overall to be in a precinct made up of just one family.
As it was explained to me, my county delegate position has absoulutely no bearing on the presidential race at all. Am I right or wrong on that?

Your county delegate seat may be the key one if it is to county assembly. County will choose the people who go on to state and US district who then go on to national. The other assemblies are to nominate state house and senate people.
Send me a pm and I'll confirm.

Good Job. Yea I was looking at some of those counties and they look very Mormon by the voting.
If Romney had a chance in heck of getting elected people would just resent him. Why on earth does he want in?
O ya he is just like Bush. Egomaniac.

You could always help them see the error of their ways.
RP's platform fits perfectly with their beliefs as LDS so use that to your advantage. They should be interested in upholding the constitution so that's a great angle to take.
I'm LDS and I'm fighting the same battle with other members in my area. There are some good youtubes special for LDS voters. Look them up and use them for ideas - or show them to the family. It may not be as hard to change their minds as you would think.

I have no problems with LDS, most I've met are the nicest folks in the world, and this family was no exception, but trust me, they are Romneyites through and through lol. There really don't like Ron Paul at all.
I was really just wanting to know what it is I will be doing at the county convention if we already elected a state delegate right then and there.

I don't understand how LDS support pro-choice Romney... Someone needs to show them the video of him debating Kennedy and trying to out-liberal him, or the one of him in the Gov. debates defending his record as a Pro-Choice candidate when he was accused of being Pro-Life! Geez... He has everyone so fooled...

in my precinct we only elected county delegates, we are then meating on the 14th to select state delegates, seems odd that they would select state, wandering if my precint did something wrong, or if yours did.
delegate - Weld county colorado

The confusion is in the name. County is what ultimately goes to national - ie for Ron Paul. State is for the state house and state senate nominees - ie for those candidates who might be Ron Paul Republicans.
