I just got this from Kirk Shelley the Oklahoma Coordinator for Ron Paul - thought you all should beware of potential McCain violations in your own area of his own campaign finance rules - seems like he ought to be held to the standards he foisted on the rest of us . . ./sc

The copies of the illegal calls can be found here:

===================================

FYI, I'm awaiting approval for the press release, be thinking about how we can use this, but the bottom line is this, McCain's campaign is running illegal robo-calls in Oklahoma. This is especially interesting in light of AG Edmondson going after Tim Pope -- BUT especially since McCain is so big into campaign finance reform and giving us McCain Feingold et al. Hope to get approval tonight and see if we can get some morning drive time.

For Immediate Release

** State Leader of Paul Campaign File Complaint Against McCain’s Telemarketing Abuses**

“McCain inflicted campaign reform on us, he ought to follow the rules he created”

Oklahoma City – Kirk Shelley Oklahoma State Coordinator of Ron Paul Presidential campaign filed a formal complaint about John McCain’s illegal robo-calling with the Oklahoma Attorney General.

Kirk Shelley expressed his frustration with McCain’s calls.

“Everyone knows the rules on these calls, or they should” said Shelley, “when you run for President or work in federal campaigns you get attorneys to tell you what you can and can not do – calling non-supporters without a phone number to stop the calls is illegal.”

“Anyone who pays attention to politics in Oklahoma knows that Tim Pope was indicted by Drew Edmondson for this same thing. The McCain campaign or their telemarketing people sure should have known better.”

Shelley continued “the bigger picture to me is this – Sen. McCain has set himself up as leader for campaign reform by authoring ‘McCain-Feingold’ telling the rest of the country the rules he thinks we should follow, yet here he is violating those very rules he helped create. If you are going to create laws limiting the free speech rights of other Americans at least have the integrity to follow them yourself.”

I have sent copies of the illegal calls go to the Attorney General and I’m confident he will prosecute with the same diligence that he went after Tim Pope, and I hope the voters remember that the author of ‘so-called campaign reform’ broke his own rules.”

Yeah I wonder if he has also followed the amount of money spent in any particular state per McCain-Feingold since he took matching funds?

I certainly hope that you are not expecting any help from AG Edmonson. He is a truly evil individual. He is an elitist, who believes in a political class. He is a partisan democrat as well.

Yes, He indicted Tim Pope, for the same campaign finance laws that Edmonson himself amits to breaking. He has yet to indict himself. Since McCain is a liberal he will walk free.

Edmonson is the man trying to put Paul Jacobs in Prison for 10 years for petitioning government. For more information on this, http://www.freepauljacobs.com. Jacobs was gathering signatures for a Tax Payer Bill of Rights. He became a resident of OKlahoma in 2005 before petition drive began and even when his indictment was given, he still resdided there. Edmonson is saying he wasn't a "real resident" and therefor was attempting to defraud the state of OK.

To hear more about this case, and to hear more about what Edmonson has done, watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8pyzU_36G8

I sent this release on to the local paper here in Tahlequah. It it rather amusing that mister campaign reform is breaking the rules.

Of course, the damage is done now and the votes done influenced by the robocalls now. I figure his campaign looks at the fines/ penalties that may come as small price for the votes they get by breaking the rules.

In one sense yes the damage is done for situation at hand; in another sense it has only just begun if the world finds out about about the ethics violations in play here. McCain is finished and he will have done it to himself!
