I've heard RP say over and over the people who predicted that the Iraq war would take 3 months and hardly any money are the same people who are saying that if we leave it's going to be a disaster. I was wondering if anyone has any links that proves what he is saying? I'm not doubting that he's right but others that I speak with are and I would like to be able to point them to a creditable source for them to check out. :)

I'm guessing it's in the 9/11 commission report somewhere?

Thanks!

You mean quotes for him and the neo-cons saying that?

Well, Just look for cake walk, welcomed with flower and the oil would pay for it. People like Paul Wolfowitz and Dick Cheney said a lot of stupid things about how Iraq would be "easy" and welcomed by the Iraqi people.

As far as "proof" for what will happen if we leave:

Ron Paul uses history. Vietnam is the best example because it is recent enough people can "see" with their own eyes.

Where once we had a brutal war, we now trade with them and have peaceful relations.

Some sources:

“Iraq has oil,” Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Fortune magazine in 2002, discussing the potential cost of an Iraq invasion and how it would be met. “They have financial resources.”

Ken Adelman, formerly an assistant to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld

"I believe demolishing Hussein's military power and liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk. Let me give simple, responsible reasons: (1) It was a cakewalk last time; (2) they've become much weaker; (3) we've become much stronger; and (4) now we're playing for keeps.'
