I'm sure there a few that agree with Obama. But all the ones I... all the ones we've talked to don't know anything. Honestly, we know more about Obama than Obama supporters know about Obama.

omg that's exactly what I say...well I say the young people who don't do their research and just listen in for the "smoke and mirrors" of Obama...change change change...

where as RP should appeal to everyone my age but really the only ones are the intelligent ones who are open minded enough to look into it.

Insulting their intelligence doesn't do anything. It only offends them. The solution is to educate them and address their concerns in the most startling way possible.

obama doesn't give you anything to agree with. he offers no substantive policy positions. the democrats are all "hope" and "change" this cycle. sadly, that's hard to beat.

I agree. And it also, unfortunately, supports my theory that only about 10% of Americans are intelligent free-thinkers.

I almost believe there should be an amendment to the Constitution stating you must pass a test on U.S. History and Political Theory to actually be allowed to vote. Of course the test must be not be created by the government.

Agreed. The feedback I get from Obama supporters is typically that
1) He's not Bush
2) He's going to "change" Washington

Although not an American myself, I started getting into the debates last May and initially myself and my friends were fans of Obama (mainly due to his 2004 Democratic speech.) When I watched the debates I felt there was something wrong with what he was saying. I wanted to hear him speak about specific issues, but I started to realize he danced around with careful rhetoric.
I watched the GOP debates as a joke since I was so sure they were all pro-war. Ron Paul crossed my radar after the tussle with Giuliani and that got me reading into the ACTUAL issues and where the candidates stood. Ron Paul got me interested in reading about foreign policy (and soon I will start to read more about his economic policies in more detail.) His honesty, dedication and deep knowledge of history make him the only candidate worth looking at if you really look into the issues.

So back to your point - its unfortunate that people do not look deeper into the issues, but I assure you, if the predicted economic crisis hits America no doubt people will start to take a closer look at Ron Paul and what he is saying.

If it's Obama vs. Paul in the general election, Obama's voting record will be dismantled. Ron Paul, as nominee, will finally have a chance to speak to everyone. And he will open eyes and minds.

The presidency is ours. We just need to continue to fight for it.

From my personal experience, most 18-22 year olds are very apathetic as far as politics go. I would estimate 95% easily. They are just too caught up in school, work, relationships, sports, hobbies, and so on. This is very understandable. I think around 22 is when many begin to think about their world in a broader perspective, and then the apathy subsides a bit. Of course, hearing Dr. Paul's message and really flexing those critical thinking brain cells is a powerful catalyst.

it sucks how if you just throw the word "change" out there... people will vote for you.

Ron Paul predicted the last recession we had four years in advance. Nobody listened then either.

I cannot stand to listen to the drivel of all those other phonies. His message is the only one that excites me.

He should have told those college kids that he never asked for a dime, that we young people (of all ages) just started flooding his servers with so much money he did not know what to do with it and had to upgrade his servers to keep up with the spontaneous contributions. :D:D:D:D

So true! I actually went to an Obama rally today in Mpls with my friend (she agreed to go to the Ron Paul rally on Monday if I went to the Obama one - don't flame me!). Anyways, a few people were yelling 'NO PATRIOT ACT'. I almost DIED! They don't even know that he voted to renew it. He can't even claim that he only voted for it the first time with some kind of patriotism/911 justification. He actually voted for it's renewal!

During his speech I felt like Winston from 1984. Everyone was standing and cheering for socialism and their own economic demise.

How to become President:

Utter platitudes
Toss out a few buzz words
Endear--"My friends"
Instill hatred and fear-"Islamo-fascist-extremists"
Pander the "God" message.
Pander anything. Promise anything, just do not be specific.
Say nothing with relish.
Say nothing with conviction.
Say nothing with charm.
Etc.
Identify problems, offer vague solutions with vigor.
Misidentify problems, offer bigger government solutions.
Etc.

Your turn.....:)

then you underestimate the stupidity of Americans. They'll look for more government to "fix" the problem. hello amero, hello NAU.

Alot of young people i know think its cool to support Obama (maybe its because hes mixed? I Don't know), they don't even know his positions and they like him.

If you are not a sheep, and understand whats going on and are really conservative, there is no other person to vote for BUT Ron Paul.

Maybe that's what he's implying; but I suspect he's got bigger and more long term things on his mind -- like "The Ron Paul Youth" becoming Ron Paul Republicans, which eventually will destroy the current incarnation of our government and restore our nation to the true Republic it once was.

I agree. I wonder what would happen if RP were to come out in a debate and just call a spade a spade. Tell the American people they are stupid and they are going bankrupt.

Well, that is true, I just turned 23, two weeks ago.
I've talked to many people (as in friends) about Ron Paul. And surprisingly people listen to me, just cause I'm that type of person. My friends are all between 17-26. I only know of one person who wants to vote for someone other than Paul.
I didn't want to debate him or turn him off Paul by instantly attacking his desired candidate. So I'll work on him.

But guess who the rest supported? Ron Paul... many said he sounds very interesting and that I definitely made them interested in voting or learning more about the guy.
The other surprising thing that is floating around and making a lot of people want to vote for Paul. Are the people who want to legalize drugs.

Young people are very impressionable.
A lot have no care in the world. Because they have no care they think they are smart or a better term to use, wise.

I'm only 23 and I'm told I know a lot and very smart and wise for my age so I guess its true. Only the young people with brains vote for Paul.

We can't, and I mean CAN'T make someone smart, can't make someone care about something they don't want to. The goal is to find out what they care about and turn it into a unsophisticated or, easy-to-follow relationship to politics to show them why its important.

Its really hard to make someone care, especially young people that feel no need to care, or don't have the smarts yet to know to care.

People in general don't know the difference between Republican and Democrat. It's not something they teach in public schools. I had to figure out pretty much EVERYTHING for myself when I was 17 or 18. Without the internet, I don't know if I would have found out so soon. Being naturally interested and motivated to understand all things political helped. Many people who are raised apathetic just stay that way all their lives. Since voters see the horrors of George W. Bush, they just sway to Obama who was "against the war from the start" because he's a Democrat that sounds good. Unfortunately they don't look at much past that.
