I did not know where to put this. I thought it was funny and in some ways it applies to today.
It's December 12, 1980: Ronald Reagan has just been elected President of the United States. ABC is into the 2nd season of its late-night ensemble comedy show "Fridays."
In an inspired bit of agitprop, not seen on network television before or since, the writers molded "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" with a talented group of actors that included Michael Richards as "Brad" and Larry David as "Eddie (Richard Nixon)," and made a political statement about the Republican takeover of the country that is as clear today as it was when it was first aired.
The studio audience responded with a standing ovation. Due to legal reasons, this episode of "Fridays" was never repeated.
"I'm just an arch-conservative, Anti-intellectual -- chief executive, From Cal-i-for-ni-a!"
