View Full Version : The straw poll is NOT meaningless

It may be worthless when it comes to actual votes, but the general perception is that the straw poll is the outcome. I'm sure we all know those who would vote for Paul but won't because "he doesn't have a chance." Him winning the straw poll in Maine is more important than picking up delegates as far as Super Tuesday is concerned. To get people off the fence, Paul is going to have to win a state, even if it's just some straw poll that is irrelevant to the delegate count.

I agree. Delegates are the last word, but the Straw Polls are what the media reports on, and that's pretty damned important.

That said, a Romney win is a good thing for us at this point - in any state. A Paul win is better, obviously, but a Romney win means fewer delegates for McCain.

Ron Paul beating McCain after he has been anoited by the corrupt pundits could be something, it will show that he still can be beat by even Ron Paul. The delegate showing is good for us. This is a small sample poll and 12% only so there is still a chance we can pass up Romney.

I don't disagree with what you're saying about the value of a win.

However:

A strategy that depends on getting favorable MSM coverage is a strategy that is going to fail. Even if we win the straw poll today they're not going to give us any positive coverage. After all that we've seen, does anyone still believe otherwise?

It sucks, but we have to find a way to win despite them.

It doesn't matter. If he wins, the media doesn't report it. If he doesn't win, the MSM reports that some one else won. Simple as that.

True...CBS evening news mentioned everyone...local news same deal....even showed Romney with earily lead in Maine....showed EVERYONE running and mentioned EVERYONE running except...Ron Paul. Just the way its going to be period.

Exactly, people who think a straw poll win would be more important than a delegate win are kidding themselves. Winning the delegates is a huge deal, thats what we need in order to go into a brokered convention with any chance of winning. We got this far without the media, and we will keep on going without the media.
