This is HUGE for Dr. Paul!!! This is a fantastic chance to finally convert a bunch of democrats who like both Paul and Obama but lean towards Obama to finally come to Dr. Paul.

I know and understand that it is too late to affect the Feb. 5th primary, but I think Dr. Paul's performance tonight will lay the groundwork for future later states, or, depending on results, a potential 3rd party run.

Dr. Paul needs to completely separate himself from the neoconservatives (as he has always done) but he also HAS to show the Democrats why universal health care and socialism simply does NOT work! It sounds good on paper, but in practice it gets screwed up, messed around, quality drops, and in the end people just want to be left alone.

Also he has to address one key issue - TAXES. The Democrats, whether they say it or not, are all about taxes and spending more. Dr. Paul needs to ask them a couple key questions - how in the world are you going to balance the budget yet provide universal healthcare at the same time?? How in the world are you going to provide healthcare without taxing people like mad?

But in my opinion, most importantly he needs to separate himself from them on terms of foreign policy. 70% of the US is anti-war, and most of them go towards Democrats as being able to end the Iraq war. But didn't they all say that they wouldn't take the options off the table?? Dr. Paul has to remind people that he is the true peace-maker, and that he will constitutionally return ALL troops from foreign countries, spend the money on balancing the budget and/or funding necessary programs, and that America would be a whole lot safer because of it.

Tonight may not be an important night for the Feb. 5th primaries, but I believe it is crucial for Dr. Paul's long term chances for presidency, and even more importantly, the Ron Paul Revolution as a movement.

--Here's what I think Dr. Paul should not talk about--
1. Cutting the Department of Education. This is a very controversial issues and you seriously will not convert any Democrats by arguing for privatization or localization of education... although Paul is right on this one, Democrats will simply not understand.
2. Cutting necessary programs like NASA and NIH. I don't know if Dr. Paul is against these programs or not, but seriously they are just too popular to be argued over.
3. Returning to the gold standard. It just sounds too crazy, but also, the declining value of the dollar is something that, if mentioned, will take hours to explain why it is so significant. Best stick with things people understand such as taxes and stuff.

Democrats are all about socialism. Dr. Paul needs to point that out and show them that only a free market (with appropriate regulations) can people truly become prosperous, and then, people will feel the innate drive to help each other out, which is the whole point of socialism.

Democrats are all about socialism. Dr. Paul needs to point that out and show them that only a free market (with appropriate regulations) can people truly become prosperous, and then, people will feel the innate drive to donate money.

Yeah, but if he goes this route, I hope he distinguishes between NAFTA, CAFTA, etc. and true free trade.
