I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I WANT MY DAMN COUNTRY BACK!

Dear Friends, Family and Fellow Americans,

George W. Bush has made me ashamed to be an American. A man without rights is a slave, and that’s what being an American has come to mean under the Bush regime. We no longer have ANY rights left that the government is bound to respect. Most of us are still fairly comfortable – if the bank hasn’t foreclosed on us yet. But we are no longer free men. Our rights have gone the way of the dodo bird.

Whatcha talkin’ about, man? Amurrica is da freest country on urf!

Is that so? Then tell me, please, what Rights you still possess. Let’s see:

* You have a right to a trial by jury – unless Bush decides to call you "an enemy combatant" and locks you away forever, with an option to torture you to death.

*You have the right not to testify against yourself – for as long as you can hold out on a waterboard, and except on your Income Tax return.

* You have the right to free speech – in designated "First Amendment expression areas" located far away from any politician’s televised stage show. And if you say anything that some politician really resents, he could put your name on the government "no fly" list, the modern equivalent of the Soviets’ infamous "internal exile."

* You have the right to keep and bear arms -- as long as you're a police officer. Other people don't need guns, the government can be trusted to protect us good, you betcha.

* You have the right to "own" your own property – for as long as you pay whatever property tax the government demands, and as long as no real estate developer with political connections happens to have a "higher use" for your property than you do.

* You have the right to be safe from unreasonable searches and seizures – except at the airport or in your car – or in your home, if some FBI agent decides to put your name on a National Security Letter, which does not even require a compliant judge’s signature.

* And of course, you have the inalienable right to pay whatever taxes the IRS says you owe, and to keep your mouth shut if you don’t like it. If you so much as add a note of protest to your tax return, you can be fined $500. Then to contest an IRS assessment, you must first pay what whatever taxes you have been assessed. If you have any money left over to pay a lawyer, you can then go to Tax Court where you are guilty until proven innocent, where you will not have the right to a jury trial, and where you must pay all legal expenses whether you are convicted of any wrongdoing or not.

* But hey, you still have the right to vote for your own government! Well, maybe. But as Stalin said, it doesn’t matter who votes for whom; it only matters who counts the ballots. Nowadays ballots are mostly counted electronically. Many people believe that the ballot-counting software has been rigged to pre-determine election results. In both of our most recent Presidential elections, for example.

* Well, surely you still have the right to your own private freedom of conscience. The government can’t get inside your head and turn you into a bad person. That's true. But they can get inside your wallet and spend your tax dollars to murder hundreds of thousands of foreigners who never offered us any harm. So as you pay your taxes like a good little citizen, you do have the inalienable right to be ashamed of yourself. Whoopee! We is free! We is got rights!

Most political elections are fights are about freedom of one kind or another -- but only in the sense of two dogs fighting over a bone. Your freedom is the bone.

The dogs all think of themselves as good, freedom-loving people. The liberal dogs think they are fighting for freedom -- freedom from the evils of discrimination, ill-health, pollution, ignorance and poverty, and freedom from anyone trying to censor them or forbidding them to adopt any lifestyle they choose. The conservative dogs also think they are fighting for freedom -- the freedom to keep the money they have earned, and the freedom to protect themselves and other decent, honest people from those who are not decent or honest.

Your freedom gets chewed by the conservative dogs when they make laws forcing you to be "decent" according to religious standards with which you do not agree. Your freedom gets chewed by the liberal dogs when they force you to pay for their grandiose save-the-world programs. At the end of the day, your bones are sucked dry; your freedom is gone.

This election year you have another crop of politicians who promise to chew away more of your rights:

Hillary Clinton has a new scheme to "socialize" our medical care, so you won’t have to worry about paying your doctor bills – you just have to worry about finding a doctor who will treat you within a month or two. She voted for all of Bush’s wars, for the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act. She now concedes that maybe going into Iraq was a bad idea – but she won’t promise to pull troops out of Iraq by2013, and she now favors sanctions against Iran. The $ 90 million her campaign has received from "Defense" Industry companies should tell you all you need to know about her status as an "anti-war" candidate.

Barack Obama favors drafting people into "National Service." Ironic for a black man to favor the reintroduction of slavery. He won’t promise to withdraw troops from Iraq either, and he too favors "getting tough" with Iran and Pakistan. He favors higher taxes on virtually everything, and also wants socialized medicine.

Romney, Huckabee and McCain all favor more of the same tired welfare/warfare state that is slowly grinding our economy into dust and driving jobs overseas. Not one of them has denounced Bush’s trashing of our Constitutional rights, or his unprovoked aggression against Iraq. All favor sanctions against Iran and none will rule out a "preemptive" attack. Not one of them proposes significant spending cuts to any federal program.

None of the candidates above has a single unkind word to say about the Federal Reserve, whose easy-money policies cause inflation and asset bubbles in homes and securities – bubbles which always collapse.

Clinton, Obama, McCain, Huckabee and Romney might as well all be running on the same campaign platform – call it The War On Freedom.

But there is ONE candidate who wants to restore the Constitutional rights the government has stolen from you. His name is RON PAUL, a medical doctor and ten-term congressman from Texas. On a nationally televised debate, I heard him introduce himself with these words: "I am the champion of the Constitution." That should have sounded corny, but it didn't. It sounded like the plain truth. And tragically, none of the other candidates on the stage could make the same claim. This is a man of legendary integrity, on whose door lobbyists do not bother to knock, because they know he will not promote any legislation which violates the spirit or the letter of the U.S. Constitution.

Dr. Paul wants to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan immediately. He sees no good reason for any US troops to be stationed on foreign soil, and plans to cut a TRILLION dollars from the federal budget by closing overseas military bases and bringing our troops home where they can protect our nation and contribute to our economy. He would also end ALL foreign aid, another huge budget cut. He wants to use the savings to support present recipients of Social Security and Medicare, while giving younger workers a right to opt out of those programs. Dr. Paul has written more books on economics than any of the other candidates have even read, and he understands that the main causes of inflation and the so-called "business cycle" of boom and bust are the same: fiat money creation by the Federal Reserve. To achieve lasting, inflation-free prosperity, he favors re-monetizing gold and silver, and eventually shutting down the Federal Reserve. He favors peaceful trade and friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none -- as George Washington suggested. Think about that, as you hear the other candidates pushing for new "preemptive" wars on the whole Muslim world.

Alone among the candidates, Dr. Paul does not want to run your life for you. He believes that your life is yours to do with as you choose, and your freedom should be restricted only by the equal freedom of others to do as they choose with their own lives. He understands that being free means that the government does not own your life, and government is not responsible for your life. Government should not be tasked with feeding, sheltering and educating you. Its only proper function is to protect your freedom to earn your own living, educate your children as you see fit, and pursue your own happiness in your own way. To ensure that you can do this effectively, he wants to abolish the I.R.S. and replace the Income Tax with – NOTHING. He would also end the Death Tax on inheritances. He believes you can figure out better ways to spend your own money than Washington bureaucrats can.

As I see it, this election offers us all a clear moral choice which will forever define what kind of a nation we are going to be. On one side you have the wannabe thieves and wannabe mass-murderers who try to cover their naked power lust by spewing bullshit promises and waving flags around. On the other side you have a man of principle who promises peace, prosperity and a government limited by its Constitution and its Bill of Rights – a man who keeps his promises. So how do you choose? I guess it depends what kind of person you are. Are you the kind of person who sells your vote for some sleazy politician’s promise to steal someone else’s goodies for your benefit? (And are you so stupid as to BELIEVE such promises?) – or do you actually care about old-fashioned stuff like "inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"? It's up to you. You can find more information on Dr. Paul at his campaign website: http://www.ronpaul2008.com

One final word: It is entirely possible that Dr. Paul will not win the Republican nomination; some caucases are only open to party hacks, and others may be rigged electronically. Vote for him in the general election anyway. All 50 states allow write-in votes, and who knows? Using write-in votes which have to be hand-counted may circumvent the electronic voting machine election-fixing problem. Don't worry about "wasting" your vote. If you value your liberty, voting for Clinton, Obama, McCain, Romney or Huckabee would be wasting your vote.
