Because the GOP is run by a different breed of crazy bastard than the Dems.

The GOP fears patriots and dissent.

Does the GOP have an official reason for winner take all?

the entire primary process is designed to protect the status quo. Think about it, why can only one republican run for president in the general? What's the REAL reason behind that? It is so that the republican establishment can use the media to make sure you only have one of a few choices, all of which are carefully selected to preserve their interests. This is a real problem when your party gets hijacked by liberals, and they select a new liberal for you. I say abolish primaries alltigether. They only serve to protect the interests of the establishment, not the people.

One commentator on some news show said the other day that Democrats can't wait to fall in love with their nominee and Republicans can't wait to fall in line for theirs.

The winner take all structure probably ensures that there are no surprises in the race for the nomination. I think it's deplorable.

Why do you say, "Why does the GOP encourage "winner-take-all" in all situations?"

Where do you think the "party encourage" one type over another? No offense, but you've given out bad info on the national convention voting.
