I'm in Cleveland, planning a radio ad blitz. I've been trying to find some good 30- and 60-sec radio spots, but so far haven't found exactly what I'm looking for among the grassroots-produced ads.
I've been told by one supporter that we're allowed to use the official HQ radio ads, as long as we change the message at the end from "paid for by the RP campaign/I'm RP and I approve this message" to "not affiliated with any campaign/paid for by the .... PAC".
I just called RP HQ to confirm that this is true, and that we can use the HQ's ads as long as we change the disclaimer; the person I talked to said that she couldn't give me any advice, but that she doesn't recommend using HQ's ads. But she sounded very hesitant in giving me this answer, so I don't know if that was her veiled way of saying that it's ok. (?)
Does anyone have a definitive answer? Are grassroots allowed to use HQ's ads, if we change the disclaimer?
What would be the consequence if I used the HQ ads (with a changed disclaimer), if I'm not supposed to? I don't want the RP campaign to get in trouble...
