I know talk radio, they tend to censor and screen their call-ins. You have to not mention Paul when you are on with the call screener. Also, it would be most effective to get the host to agree with you on a bunch of points, and then reveal that Ron Paul matches that criteria exactly.

IT still needs alot of filling in it seems. but it looks good. The table text is quite cut off. You might want to make the text smaller so it doesn't over flow the table.

Also, you might want to make the "Click here to get phone numbers for shows starting at:" text look more like a link, it looks like i am supposed to click on the numbers below that text.

Let's start an around the clock buzz on national and local radio for RP! Clog the phone lines with RP's message! West coasters can begin late Sunday night when the 5am shows start on the east coast, and keep it going all the way through Super Tuesday to get those last minute undecided voters. There are even a few weekend shows you can use to get your feet wet if you need some practice. Most of these shows are local and are easy to get through to with a minimum of hold time. Let's do it!

I got on Brian and the Judge the other day right after the Florida debate and made a comment on McCain and how he couldnt answer RPs question about PPT and if he is running for president he should know about these things. The Judge basically responded by saying the nobody knows more about Economics than RP and that even he would not be able to answer the question he asked.

I just posted this on the Daily Paul:

Seeing as it's Super Bowl Sunday and the weather here in San Diego is absolute crap (imagine that!) - and it probably isn't much better in most of the country - I have been thinking of things we can do to best utilize our time and resources for RP's cause. Canvassing isn't going to be very effective considering these two factors, but we can help RP do the dirty work that he doesn't seem to want to do by attacking Romney's and McCain's positions and voting records through the old media talk radio.

Many of you have probably seen my post about the website http://www.CallTalkRadioForRon.com. Just yesterday I heard two RP calls in a row on KABC in LA and several others throughout the day, which I hope is at least party due to the website (thank you again Logan for doing this!). I got to thinking that we should not only ramp this effort up, but combine it with a mass email campaign to start attacking the other candidates for Ron.

Now since announcing something like this on the internet is sure to get the attention of those who are keeping tabs on our every move (hi guys!), it is going to be very important to keep a low profile and call or email with appeals to honesty, fairness, integrity, etc. What I mean by keeping a low profile is don't mention RP if at all possible. Rather, pick out a topic such as the collapsing economy, foreign policy, privacy issues, etc., and discuss it in detail from an RP perspective without mentioning his name. Hold your ground in a non-confrontational way, and give the host a chance to either come around to your way of thinking or make an @$$ of themself. If things go well, you can always throw his name in at the end, but if you get shot down and don't mention his name it keeps the damage to a minimum.

You can also call or email shows that don't normally discuss politics, and in this case you can often times fire away with RP's perspective up front. For example:

For tech shows:
"Hi, I have always been concerned about the viruses, spambots, etc. that my computer is constantly bombarded with, but now that our government has been authorized to snoop on all internet traffic, I am more concerned about privacy issues than ever. What can I do to make sure that the privacy of my personal data is not compromised?" Of course from here you can mention RP's stance on the issue.

For health shows:
"With organizations like the WHO and the UN trying to manage the global food supply, what measures would you suggest to that I am getting the most nutritious food for my family that is free from irradiation, pesticides, etc."

Heck some of you could probably even think of ways to work RP into sports talk radio!

I am working on an email right now to Roger Hedgecock which I will post in this thread as soon as I have finished. I hope others pick up the ball too, time is getting short!!!

And I got on 'Gunny Bob', but Gunny had a guest host. The host gave me a few minutes and I went to town on the Fed, Fed board of governors, M3 supply, and welfare. I can't wait for Gunny to get back on the air....he took the position that the president has war delcaring power, a quick review of the federalist papers' comments will tell otherwise:

Article 1, Sec. 8 (11) states that “Congress shall have the power . . . to declare war.” As Lincoln explained: “This, our Convention, understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they naturally resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.”

Of this there is no doubt. James Madison wrote in 1793 that it is necessary to adhere to the “fundamental doctrine of the Constitution that the power to declare war is fully and exclusively vested in the legislature.”

Thomas Jefferson wrote that “We have already given . . . one effectual check to the dog of war by transferring the power of letting him loose.” The nationalist Alexander Hamilton reassured early Americans who feared that the proposed Constitution granted the president powers too similar to those of Britain’s king. The president’s authority, he said, was “in substance much inferior to it. It would amount to nothing more than the supreme command and direction of the land and naval forces . . . while that of the British King extends to the declaring of war and to the raising and regulating of fleets and armies; all of which by the Constitution would appertain of the legislature.”

Mercantilism: system of statism using monopolies and special interest power to give govt and business a relationship that would be protected from competition...increased in practice in the 19th century, and a mainstay of 20th century American politics.

The People, through Congress, decide that the nation shall go to war, the President then, and only then, has the authority to wage it.

Unless the country is being invaded, if the congress does not declare war against another country, the president is constitutionally barred from waging it, no matter how much he desires to do so. This is, again, shown clearly in the following statements:

“As the executive cannot decide the question of war on the affirmative side, neither ought it to do so on the negative side, by preventing the competent body from deliberating on the question.”

- Thomas Jefferson

“The executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question, whether there is or is not cause for declaring war.”

- James Madison

“Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object.”

- Lincoln

In 1973, an irate Congress passed the War Powers Act in response to President Lyndon Johnson and President Richard Nixon's prosecution of the war in Vietnam without a congressional declaration. Under the War Powers Act, the president has 90 days after introducing troops into hostilities to obtain congressional approval of that action. It looks good on paper, but presidents have generally ignored the War Powers Act, citing Article II, Section 2 as their authority to send soldiers into combat.

The U.N. charter was ratified by the Senate, and as such the president is bound by its terms. Nevertheless, the attacks on New York and Virginia are clearly war crimes under the U.N. definition. Moreover, Article 51 of the U.N. charter provides for the "inherent right ... of self-defense if an armed attack occurs." NATO also took steps toward approving military action yesterday, by invoking Article 5 of the NATO charter, authorizing the use of force if it's determined that this was attack from abroad against the United States.

In the United States, the War Powers Act of 1973 (Public Law 93-148), also referred to as the War Powers Resolution (Sec. 1), allows the President to use military forces for 60 days, without a formal declaration of war by Congress. It also grants an additional 30 days upon a formal request by the President, regardless of Congress's agreement with the request.

Five wars have been declared in American history: the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II. It should be noted that the declaration of the Mexican-American War occurred after America and Mexico had commenced hostilities -- with Congress simply recognizing the existence of a state of war. Thus some historians argue that there have really only been four true declarations. Still other historians argue that the legal doctrines and legislation passed during the operations against Pancho Villa constitute an additional declaration of war.

John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States, noted in Federalist No. 4 that “absolute monarchs will often make war when their nations are to get nothing by it, but for the purposes and objects merely personal.”

But James Madison, widely known as the father of the Constitution, might have been more skeptical. “In war, the honors and emoluments of office are to be multiplied; and it is the executive patronage under which they are to be enjoyed,” he warned. “It is in war, finally, that laurels are to be gathered; and it is the executive brow they are to encircle.”

Alexander Hamilton emphasized in Federalist No. 69 that the president would be “nothing more” than “first general and admiral,” responsible for “command and direction” of military forces.

Madison described Congress’s control over spending as “the most complete and effectual weapon with which any constitution can arm the immediate representatives of the people, for obtaining a redress of every grievance, and for carrying into effect every just and salutary measure.”

Hamilton explained that the limitation prevented Congress from vesting “in the executive department permanent funds for the support of an army, if they were even incautious enough to be willing to repose in it so improper a confidence.”

Alexander Hamilton: "The President is to be commander-in-chief of the army and navy of the United States. . . . It would amount to nothing more than the supreme command and direction of the military and naval forces, as first General and Admiral of the Confederacy; while that of the British king extends to the declaring of war and the raising and regulating of fleets and armies, -- all of which by the Constitution under consideration, would appertain to the legislature." (The Federalist, 69, 1788.)
". . . .'The Congress shall have the power to declare war'; the plain meaning of which is, that it is the peculiar and exclusive duty of Congress, when the nation is at peace, to change that state into a state of war. . . ." (C. 1801.)

Thomas Jefferson: "We have already given in example one effectual check to the dog of war by transferring the power of letting him loose from the Executive to the Legislative body. . . ." (Letter to Madison, 1789.)
"Considering that Congress alone is constitutionally invested with the power of changing our condition from peace to war, I have thought it my duty to await their authority for using force in any degree which could be avoided." (Message to Congress, 1805.)

James Madison: ". . . The power to declare war, including the power of judging the causes of war, is fully and exclusively vested in the legislature . . . the executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question, whether there is or is not cause for declaring war." (1793.)
"The constitution supposes, what the History of all Governments demonstrates, that the Executive is the branch of power most interested in war, and most prone to it. It has accordingly with studied care vested the question of war to the Legislature." (Letter to Jefferson, c. 1798.)

William Paterson framer and Supreme Court justice): ". . . It is the exclusive province of congress to change a state of peace into a state of war." (United States v. Smith, 1806.)

George Washington: "The constitution vests the power of declaring war in Congress; therefore no offensive expedition of importance can be undertaken until after they shall have deliberated upon the subject and authorized such a measure." (1793.)

James Wilson: (framer and ratifier): "This system will not hurry us into war; it is calculated to guard against it. It will not be in the power of a single man, or a single body of men, to involve us in such distress; for the important power of declaring war is vested in the legislature at large. . . ." (To the Pennsylvania ratifying convention, 1787.)

The Founder’s Solution

The founders of this nation wished to prevent such conditions from becoming the history of the United States. They knew the burdens of war first hand, and sought to shield their posterity from those sufferings, to the degree possible. Consequently, during the debates of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, they sought to build into their new constitution the greatest protection against frivolous or unjustified involvement of the nation in war. They sought to make the process for entering into war as deliberative as possible. They sought to place the responsibility for the decision as close to the people as possible, since it would cost the blood and fortune of the people if it were entered into. They sought to remove the ability of one person, or office, to commit the nation to war. They debated and discussed the matter in excruciating detail before arriving at the solution they included in the final form of the Constitution.

Since the U.S. House of Representatives was to be the only department elected directly by the people, and it is constitutionally the department with the power of the purse for the nation, and thus most answerable to the people; and since the U.S. Senate was originally appointed by the respective state legislatures (which state legislatures would be responsible to pay for war by taxing their constituents), the decision was made to require the Congress to declare war if it was to be done.

The founders specifically withheld from the President of the United States the power to commit the United States to war. They did not want to allow conditions to arise under which some future President could act as the monarchs had done in throwing their nations into unjustified war.

So Congress is to determine when the nation goes to war, and only Congress may declare war. The President is the commander of the military, but he has no power to determine when or if the nation goes to war; and Congress constitutionally retains numerous other powers and authority over the armed forces of the nation, including funding decisions, the power to make rules for the government and regulation of the military, the power to mobilize and deploy the Militia, and other important influence.3

So, even during war the President of the United States is subject to congressional restraint, and does not possess “plenary” (full and absolute) powers as some have claimed.

Madison and Jefferson Comment

James Madison, considered by many to be the “Father of the Constitution,” was an active participant in the Constitutional Convention of 1787. During the debate regarding the war-making powers, he made the following comment regarding the dangers associated with the circumstance of war, the tendency of power to accrue to the Office of the Executive during war, and the concerns he had that war may present opportunities to manipulate trickery and usurpation which would destroy the liberty of the nation:

In time of actual war, great discretionary powers are constantly given to the Executive magistrate. Constant apprehension of war has the same tendency to render the head too large for the body. A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive, will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defense against foreign danger have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim, to excite a war whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved, the people.4

During the Constitution Convention of 1787, Thomas Jefferson was serving this nation on assignment in France. At the conclusion of the convention, Madison forwarded the new constitution to Jefferson. After he had reviewed the document, Jefferson noted the control placed upon the President in regards to war-making power, and wrote to Madison, saying:

We have already given, in example, one effectual check to the dog of war, by transferring the power of declaring war from the executive to the legislative body, from those who are to spend, to those who are to pay.5

James Madison continued throughout his life to hold concerns regarding the war-making powers of a nation, expressing his fears of an expanded Executive power during a state of war, and the risks that unremitting war will destroy the freedom of the nation:

Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people.... No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.6

Delegation of Power Prohibited

Unfortunately, modern Congresses have blatantly disregarded their sole responsibility in the matter of war, lacking the courage to fulfill their constitutionally-mandated duty in this regard. They have even failed in the natural tendency to jealously guard their sphere of influence. Dereliction of duty is the kindest definition which could be attached to the posture of Congress in this regard. Over the past fifty-plus years, Congress has made flimsy excuses as they have mumbled nonsense about “delegating” their authority in the matter of war to the President, or blaming their impotence upon “treaties” which tie their hands and require (through entangling alliances) the United States to enter war. Constitutional protocol was well understood by those who founded this nation, and they knew that the authority which was assigned in the Constitution could not legally be delegated to another entity. The founders had diligently studied the works of John Locke. John Locke was emphatic in the matter of delegating constitutionally-mandated authority:

The legislative cannot transfer the power of making laws to any other hands, for it being but a delegated power from the people, they who have it cannot pass it over to others. The people alone can appoint the form of the commonwealth, which is by constituting the legislative, and appointing in whose hands that shall be. And when the people have said, ‘We will submit and be governed by laws made by such men, and in such forms,’ nobody else can say other men shall make laws for them; nor can they be bound by any laws but such as are enacted by those whom they have chosen and authorized to make laws for them.7

Tucker agreed with that position, stating:

. . .a delegated authority cannot be transferred to another to exercise.8

Conclusion

The war-making power of a nation is an awesome force which holds fearsome destructive power. War, particularly modern war, is institutionalized mass murder carried out by the most powerful mortal force on earth—government. While the founders of this great nation knew that the choice of war would sometimes face the nation, or be thrust upon the nation by the wicked actions of other nations, they wished to constrain and control the natural tendency of human nature to abuse power and exercise it excessively and improperly. The founders had observed the countless times that the destructive forces of war had been unleashed upon humankind by the whim of a monarch or despot, and wished to shield themselves and their posterity, indeed, all of mankind from such a terrible burden, so they devised a marvelous process which would prevent the nation from entering into conflict without a full deliberative process in which the justice, the necessity, the cost, and the facts could be fully reviewed before each member of the Congress solemnly stepped forward and cast their vote in the matter. The founders of this nation fully understood that in matters of war, the blood, the fortune, and the sacred honor of the entire nation is at stake.

For many years now the nation has strayed from these sound principles, and the price of such action is yet to be fully realized. If the liberties which were bequeathed to the nation are to be saved, we must immediately restore the foundation upon which the nation was established and built. Congress must again assume its duty in the matter of war, and wrest the war-making power from the hands, both foreign and domestic, which have usurped the congressional Constitutional responsibility.

This is a better site because it lists shows by the hour. Who can you call NOW and next hour and the hour after that...

Awesome website and a fantastic idea. Kudos and a BUMP! :D
