GOP candidate Ron Paul latest news shows that in a Matt Drudge (Drudge Report) initiated poll of which GOP presidential hopeful won the debate in Iowa, the leader with 45% of the vote was, Ron Paul.
Dr. Paul, an East Texas Doctor and congressman, has quietly stepped into the Howard Dean and Ross Perot slot of the upcoming election, and signs of his support seem to be growing based on the latest numbers cited on CNN today.
ABC News and NBC both have reported that Dr. Paul, an OB/GYN, has Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Green Party and Independents among his base of support. He also appeals to conservative voters opposed to abortion, the UN, the I.R.S. and U.S. Military interventions in foreign countries.
Paul supporters say his views on abortion are his own personal feelings, and he prefers to leave the decisions of legislation up to each individual state and its constituents.
Recently the AP reported and wrote "The enthusiasm has boosted his national profile but hasn't translated into widespread voter support in the polls."
His longevity remains to be seen, but there can be no denying his run for the presidency is gaining in momentum and interest from voters.
Today, Drudge posted the poll results from the Iowa debate:
DRUDGE POLL: WHO WON THE REPUBLICAN DEBATE IN IOWA?
Brownback 6% 700
Giuliani 20% 2,594
Huckabee 4% 482
Hunter 2% 260
McCain 2% 275
Paul 45% 5,665
Romney 16% 2,057
Tancredo 3% 429
Tommy Thompson 2% 256
Total Votes: 12,718

Uh - Did Drudge take out the Brownback multiple votes that Little Green Footballs was advising? When I voted, I could swear that Brownback had way more than 700 votes.

If he did, that's wonderful, because I'm sure they would have looked at Ron Paul's votes too.

I took screenshots up until 6:28pm EST when Paul was still beating Brownback...I checked back at 8:00pm EST and Drudge had taken the poll down.

Results at 6:28pm are here: http://votewritein.blogspot.com/2007/08/ron-paul-wins-drudge-report-iowa-gop.html

yes, I saw that brownback had a huge number of votes too..

the only think I can think of is they identified a bot, and just omitted all votes associated to that... so, if he had 700 votes right up to when the bot was introduced, they probably just set it back to that... makes sense.

Brownback had 10,000+ votes inside of 2 hours.

Whatever.....he had 900 at 1:15pm, Ron Paul had 6,000 at the same time.

2 hours later Brokeback has 11,000 and Paul has 14,000?? Right.

to diminish rons support and try to make online polls the work of spammers. Heck they shut their poll down when Ron was catching Rudy, problem is they just will not acknowledge that even the mighty Rudy could not draw 1 to 2k people to an event unless it was in NYC. Really, green footballers, how many people would show up at a Rudy rally in Carolina with a weeks notice? 50? 25 reporters 10 staff and 15 people?

Looks like this was written early in the Drudge poll, before the Brownback spammer got his bright idea.
