View Full Version : I'm Really, Really Scared...

As the title shows, I'm really, really, scared for this countries future. I'm fourteen, a huge Ron Paul supporter, I've done my homework, know everything there is to know. I've been 'awake,' per say, since I was twelve or thirteen. But today... Let's say I rather just lost it.

How could we have let our country get like this? HOW? Our founders, ancestors and fellow revolutionaries way back when gave their lives fighing exactly what we're up against today. And as terrifying as it may sound; and I'm not encouraging this in any way, I'm sort of getting the sense that the only way to re-take this country is through a 1776 revolution, and I'm scared. I mean, I'd love to stay optimistic as possible about RP, but what if we lose? What then? We'll be chipped like dogs, have our rights taken away from us, turn socialist? Even war? Nuclear war, G-d forbid. If we go ahead and attack Iran, it'll be the end of the world. Russia will attack the US in response, which will in effect get the UK to take action, which would get China involved, etcetera. It would be WWIII beyond. And I'm scared. I just don't... Want to see our country fall like this.

I mean, the government doesn't even regard the law as 'applicable to them. We the people can file suit, do whatever, and they'll just laugh. The government is above the law. We are far below it. So below it, that it's like France when they had a monarchy. Only we're the peasants, and the nobleman are the big corporations and ruling class of America. I mean, we have an income tax which is completely iligal, we have just lost our freedom of speech online as Bush just signed into law a bill that would have the NSA and AT&T police the internet, we have lost our gun rights basically, we have lost our right to petition the government, we have lost habeus corpus, we have lost the right to privacy with the Real ID Act and other such things, we have lost the right to not be killed, we have lost the right to pursue happiness, we have lost the right to keep our own money as expressed in the constitution, we have lost the ability to express ourselves freely, we have lost the right to make choices for ourselves, I mean... I could just go on and on. And 90% of the nation doesn't even care.

I mean, sorry if I sort of sound a bit crazy here, but really. I'm scared. I'm just really scared. I feel as if there simply is just no hope for not just our country, but the world now. Chances are that if the US collapses, the entire world collapses, as there is no way the US would just collapse without taking the world under with it. I'm just really... Scared. For the future. We have lost everything. Everything. Just everything that our ancestors gave their lives for... And ignorant Americans could care less to the point where they would happily walk all over the constitution :/

Well, I am 44 years old and your first instinct is going to be to blame my generation.

In my defense, and hopefully for your enlightenment, when I was your age I felt the same way about the adults then. I was like how could they ahve screwed up such a good thing?

Suffice it to say it has been a long time getting this way and even with victories we are not going to fix things over night.

But we will fix things.

It just doesn't seem likely, though... I mean, again. The government simply put believes that they are above the law. How can you fight an empire of a government that thinks that way? With corruption this high? You just can't... And it isn't even necessarily the past generations fault. It's our fault, as the people, for not maintaining what our founders gave us. Thomas Jefferson once said, "We have given you a democracy. Now let's see if you can keep it." He couldn't have been more on target.

Thank you :) It's sort of funny, though. Out of everyone in my entire district, I'm essentially one of the only 'awake' ones there are that actually isn't 'apathetic.' And it's upsetting. Because you just want to make changes, but if, say, you were to get into a debate with a teacher, or a fellow student in class, you would be made up to be some crazy, well... Excuse my language, but idiot. People are quick to judge without doing their homework. And, I mean, wherever I go, I tell people about Dr. Paul. I tell people what's going on in our country. And I always get these looks like, "your crazy." And then there's the actual patriots who I've bumped into around town. And they always look at me straight in the eye, and tell me what any American patriot would tell you.

Don't let that discourage you kid.. And here's why--

Plato said it best when he said--

"Strange times are these in which we live when old and young are taught falsehoods in school. And the one man that dares to tell the truth is called at once a lunatic and fool" -- Plato

And also a quote by Dresden James certainly is appropriate-

When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.---Dresden James

Keep your chin up kid.. Remember that the true patriots in American history were first considered lunatics when they wanted changes to be made.. After many years later when those changes were implemented, they were looked upon as "patriots", and not lunatics anymore.. The moral of the story is, this is a battle you will have to fight for many years.. Take solace in knowing that this has happened before, and that you are a bright light for implementing that change in the future..

The only fear I have, though, is that the American people won't wake up... I mean, 90% of the entire nation doesn't even know what's going on. I don't even watch the news anymore, and I haven't for at least two years straight. But when I actually do, what I see is terrifying in the sense that this is actually being fed to the American people. Just today, I heard this:

"Coming up, why terrorism is a threat and why you should be scared. Next is Obama and Clinton with some tough words for each other, and coming up later <something about celebrities and such>."

I can see right through it. And I know a lot of others can. But for the ones that can't, this is what they're fed every day. And they believe every word of it. Terrorism, who you should vote for, and something to keep them busy. For once in history, I have a fear that this time around, what's happening can't be stopped. I want to wake up one day, and actually be able to say, "I'm proud as hell to be an American." But I can't. Because I know I'd only be fooling myself.

Calm down, things are going to be alright. It appears at this point that Ron Paul will not be President. He will still be in the Congress most likely and hopefully joined by others like him. Obama, like Paul, is for ending the Iraq war and hopefully he's serious about that and he is willing to talk to leaders who the Bush Administration uses for fear mongering. Hillary is not going to start a world war. McCain is a little crazy, but I don't think he'll be able to win defending Bush and the war. The best thing that could occur at this point is a split executive and legislative branch- Dem Pres, Rep. Congress or vice versa. But don't be worried about attacking Iran. The NIE basically toned down the war propoganda on that. Nobody wants to be in a world war. We have a lot of allies around the world and the U.S. is still the strongest country in the world.

I feel for you Patriot. It's going to be your generation that inherits the mess that we're in and the dumbing down of Americans just continues.

I'm almost 50 and it's taken me about 10-15 years to get to that place where I understand what's going on and connect the dots. All I can say is keep at spreading the message of liberty and the constitution. Most people are slow, but if you stick to your guns, the smarter ones will come around. It takes time and the truth will always be on your side.

I'm 31 and I'm scared as hell. I think everyone of us on here are scared. Now to harness and embrase that fear, and aim it in the direction of the enemy. Emotional drive is what wins wars (and a few guns :p). When you believe, and see a vision, and commit to that vision, and invest emotion into that vision, the vision will unfold.

We are in that process. The Legislative branch will have the beginings of an appropriate check against the executive branch within the coming years. We do this by electing and showing up to congressional and senate seat elections. We vote in constitutional abiding Americans to any elected state positions. The beauty of Ron Paul, is his message is very well heard by younger people, most of which are just begining families. Generations will grow up with this knowledge, and we will not let it ever stop America again. We need to awaken more of the country, but may only be able to do that through a larger presence in politics.

So in this order:
*Get Ron Paul through this election term
*Vote in constitutionalists to our government, people with balls (this will be very easy to do) if we keep our same grass-roots structure
*Educate the population
*Apologize to the world once we regain our government

Patriot123, find others in the area where you live who are awake. Learn to grow food, if you live in an area where you can put out a garden. I say this to all people, as if this economy does tank, most of us are dependent on someone else for our food. By learning to grow your own food, you will strengthen your body as well, as most of the food in the grocery is full of chemicals, pesticides, hormones and antibiotics, msg, aspartame, or is just processed and has no real value.

Do not worry, we are winning this fight. It is just getting started. Everyday I feel like you in one respect or another, and I am sickened by our fellow Americans lack of care and lack of knowledge. I am also disgusted that so many people would just like to kill more people without even thinking about this, like it is a right for us as Americans? So, be proud you are awake and are alive in this time. Don't be afraid - many of us who are here have an important purpose to fulfill. Don't hesitate to PM any of us if you need help, but be very careful since you are very young, and do not meet with people from this forum or others from the internet alone.

Now you understand how the prophets of the Bible felt when they tried to tell people what was going to happen.

I suspect you believe in God and now is the perfect time to strengthen your faith in Him.

Please keep the faith and remember, you already know more than most of the others around you. Prepare for what you know is coming and pray for those who don't have a clue. Remain calm and always remember, you have been given a gift.
Your eyes have been opened. I believe this is for a reason and if you look hard enough, and perhaps ask in prayer, you will find the reason and be able to complete the task you were put here on Earth to do.

When all seems lost, look up and remember the gift He has offered to all who will accept it.

When you find yourself feeling down about our country's situation, it is important remember all those cliches like "Every cloud has a silver lining"

We are the silver lining and the future has the capability of being good if we all work hard to get past these coming hard times.

The only fear I have, though, is that the American people won't wake up... I mean, 90% of the entire nation doesn't even know what's going on.

They will eventually. Some days it is disheartening to see how much work we all have ahead of us, but our cause is growing. People are waking up everyday. Eventually we will reach a tipping point. What this movement has shown me is that there is hope for the future, and that there are more awake, motivated people in this country than I ever dreamed of. For years it seemed like only corrosive forces cared about the future of this country, and they remade it to their will while the populace rolled over. People would complain about it, but they would not alter their behavior. That is most certainly changing, and not just in Ron Paul realms.

I think the greatest things we can do to awaken the American people are as follows:

1) Show that Democrats and Republicans are two heads of the same monster
2) Show that the government doesn't necessarily have your best intentions at heart
3) Vote for who will represent you accurately. Don't play politics with some media-dictated 'electability' factor.
4) Get rid of your television
5) Fight PC at every turn. It is a propaganda apparatus that impedes our ability to honestly think through ideas.

There is an old saying: "Things are never as good or as bad as you think they are." If the future is to belong to us, we will need to keep our fatalistic impulses at bay and keep our eye on the goal ahead.

A Republic my friend, a Republic. :) A democracy is what has become of America, which has always led to dictatorship.....and it has more than reared it's ugly head.

I agree we are way beyond what the founders and a certain percentage of colonists rose up against, way beyond. It's pretty much many of the previous generations' fault (not every single person of course) as well as the fault of many people today, for putting blind trust in the gov't and for becoming complacent/apathetic.

After the nation became free and then prosperous, after awhile people became complacent. Complacency led to apathy, apathy to slavery/bondage. Gaining spirit/courage/character back is next, there has always been a cycle in history similar to the above in many countries. At some point in time we should all hope to break this cycle, and stay vigilant.

Democracy is a flawed form of government, the destruction of the country has been going on for generations, we have increased our standard of living in spite of government, not because of it.
A great book to read is democracy, the god that failed, by Hans-Hermann Hoppe.

Wow! I can't believe I'm hearing such wisdom from a 14 year old! How did you become so enlightened? I'm assuming your parents had something to do with it...

I have 2 daughters, 16 and 18, who are sorta "into" Ron Paul. 18 y.o. is voting for him and actually went to the meetup group with me last night, and my 16 y.o. has helped with sign waving and literature distribution. But when given the choice between doing something for the Revolution or hanging out with friends, the friends win every time. I'm as much to blame for this as anyone else, having been a sheep up until only a few months ago myself.

I'm so proud of you. I hope you are proud of yourself. Keep up the good fight. Keep telling everyone you know what is going on. Eventually others are going to awaken, too.

And as others have said, keep faith in God. He will give you strength, all you have to do is ask Him.

Patriot123, your fears are not groundless. But for my faith, I would be scared to death right now. For me, it is only faith in God and His Word that allows me to rise above the fears of all that seems to be in the works for the days ahead. Despite the many opinions one hears that the Bible is filled with inaccuracies one thing I have proved repeatedly in my own life is that it truly is a 'lamp unto my feet'....direction on an increasingly narrow path through life.

It appears you are an unusually intelligent fourteen year old and your post almost made me question whether you really are fourteen. After all, your spelling is too good! (smiling) I suppose the advice I would give at this point is to suggest 'wisdom'....the application of knowledge you have. Choose your battles wisely, choose to live wisely as other posters have suggested here. Know when to speak up and know when to keep your mouth shut because not all battles are ones in which you need to be engaged.

The battle for freedom is a noble one and increasingly to be fought for strategically. While society is still reasonably open it can be done without fear of reprisal and people who are ready to have their eyes opened can be educated. Yet even in this choose to do so wisely. Society is closing down more with each passing law and I think we are all going to learn more about guerilla warfare in terms of fighting for freedom in whatever sphere of influence we may have.

Fear can either be paralyzing or empowering. Use justifiable fear to teach you the strategies you need to live and fight wisely.

I'm sure this quote has been pasted here before... but it's a good one...

When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils
but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil. - Thomas Jefferson

Note, it's not impossible, but we need a lot of support, we need to stick together and keep fighting if we're going to restore the Republic.

We're all fearful of what has become of this country, that's one of the many reasons we support Ron Paul.

My suggestions:

I second the notion to keep yourself clean so you can run for an office when you come of age.

Study economics, law and politics now, you're way ahead of the curve as is. By the time you get to college, you'll blow everyone out of the water. Run for student government.

Learn to fish, hunt, grow your own food and take care of yourself and your family. Learn how to write effectively-the pen is mightier than the sword. Document everything. Learn how to "win friends and influence people." Learn about science and technology-be well-rounded.

And finally, don't ever lose your idealism. Keep the faith and understand that a lot of what we're doing is going to influence politics from the ground up. We start off from the bottom and work our way up and model ourselves after Paul.

This will take time, but it can be done.

I think a lot more people are waking up than we realise. Not just in America, but globally. Many people instinctively know that something is wrong in the world but can't quite put their finger on it. Ron Paul himself has said that he's been amazed at the response he's received. It's true, it's going to be a long hard battle but that battle has just begun, it's taking shape and we're growing in numbers.

I'm not from the USA, but have been following Ron Paul's campaign avidly because I can see that he's setting an example and he's spreading a message. He's seting an example for the rest of us and for the rest of the world.

The people of America who understand this, the people on this forum and the people in the meetups who are fighting to get this message heard, truly are revolutionaries. If you win, we all win. It's true that the world is watching you. People around the world who have woken up are depending on you to get this message out. We don't have a Ron Paul.

If you want to see the shape of your country in years to come, look to your youth. You are wise beyond your years and have a much greater understanding of the world than many adults could claim to have. Use this wisdom to carry on spreading the word. For us all.

A friend sent this video to me today. If you haven't already seen it please watch it and know that the future is in your hands.

I, too, was awakened at the age of 12. We were the generation that watched "Waco," live on tv in our classrooms. It is terrifying to thing of what this nation is becoming - but don't let fear paralyze you. We have to overcome the fear, to do what needs to be done to save this nation while there's still something left worth saving. It gives me great hope to see that the next generation is already thinking about it.

All I can say is, learn to defend yourself.

Indeed - the 2nd amendment is the one that ensures all the others.
