GOP presidential candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo, whose signature issue is the fight against illegal immigration, said Tuesday that he would threaten an attack on Islamic holy sites in order to deter a nuclear attack on American soil, according to the political website iowapolitics.com.
“If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” he told about 30 people at a restaurant in Osceola.
“That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do. If I am wrong fine, tell me, and I would be happy to do something else. But you had better find a deterrent or you will find an attack. There is no other way around it. There have to be negative consequences for the actions they take. That’s the most negative I can think of,” he said, according to the story.
Tancredo made a similar statement in 1995 when he said on a Florida talk show that the United States could threaten to “take out” Islamic holy sites, including Mecca, if Muslim fundamentalists wage a nuclear attack on America.
His comment was skewered in editorials across the country and in some foreign nations and was denounced by the U.S. State Department as “insulting and offensive.”
Tancredo later released a clarification that said he did not advocate bombing Mecca and that “much more thought would need to be given to the potential ramifications of such a horrific response.”

Tancredo is a f**king moron and the only good thing I really like about this administration is the fact that they keep this tool away from the white house.
