My meet-up group recently had it's first meeting and discussed possible actions.
The most important one being the purchase and staffing of a booth at the "National Peanut Festival."
It is a local event that attracts people from states all around the south east.
The boot my meet-up organizer looked into costs
From the Festival's website:
Today, the National Peanut Festival has grown from a three-day event in the late 30's, to a ten-day event with attendance in excess of 163,000 visitors to the fairgrounds. With such an enormous event, the NPF has more than 500 volunteers who give countless hours to the festival in order to continue its success. The peanut, peanut growers, and the entire Wiregrass agriculture industry is to be commended for their dedication and for giving the area a reason for celebrating such an important economic product.
Currently I'd say we have at least 15 people willing to staff a booth from early morning to late night.
The money is the issue.
On top of the rental, our plan includes a display device for Ron Paul videos, there was talk of renting a projector.
There would also be a strong demand for literature and bumperstickers(enough for a ten day event with thousands upon thousands of attendants each of those days.)
So I'm turning to you guys. I don't feel comfortable asking for money on the internet, but I feel this is a costly endeavor and with the meetup group being so young it might not be willing to throw their money towards this particular plan.
I feel it is important that we are present at this even. It is THE event for the area.
Consider throwing $3 dollars this way. If just 200 people from these forums are willing to donate $3 it would be enough to encourage the others to donate their money.
I'm dedicated to this event and if we can get it rolling I promise I will be present there every single possible moment. I'll take my three vacation I have left and use them.
And as insurance that your $3 didn't go to waste I promise to make video of the event if it happens, and if the event doesn't happen by chance I promise to donate all the money I receive from you guys to the campaign. I'd be sure to top it off at $250 so when the next quarterly report comes out you can see my name and know.
So if you will be kind enough...
