View Full Version : Help my group reach thousands with $3.00

My meet-up group recently had it's first meeting and discussed possible actions.

The most important one being the purchase and staffing of a booth at the "National Peanut Festival."

It is a local event that attracts people from states all around the south east.

This is from the Festival's website:

Today, the National Peanut Festival has grown from a three-day event in the late 30's, to a ten-day event with attendance in excess of 163,000 visitors to the fairgrounds. With such an enormous event, the NPF has more than 500 volunteers who give countless hours to the festival in order to continue its success. The peanut, peanut growers, and the entire Wiregrass agriculture industry is to be commended for their dedication and for giving the area a reason for celebrating such an important economic product.

The booth my meet-up organizer looked into is going to cost $600.

But the real cost of the event will be at least 1,000 after you factor in the purchasing materials that will be needed- t-shirts, signage and enough fliers and bumper stickers to last us all ten days of an event that thousands upon thousands of people will be attending.

Currently I'd say we have at least 15 people willing to staff a booth from early morning to late night, so I'd safely say we have the man hours needed.

The money and the time in which we need to have it is the problem. Our group needs to decide on this soon because when our organizer brought it up at the meeting he said that when he contacted the festival they stated that there was a limited number of booths left.

So I'm turning to you guys. I don't feel comfortable asking for money on the internet, but I feel this is a costly endeavor, but with the urgency to buy the booth so soon and the meetup group being so young I believe everyone may not be able and/or willing to throw their money towards this particular plan.

I know and feel that this is an important event for us to show ourselves. It is THE event for the area.

Consider throwing $3 dollars this way. If just 200 people from these forums are willing to donate $3 it would be enough procure the booth, then over the course of the next few months my group can pool it's money together to make this event the best we can.

I'm 100% dedicated to this event, and if we can get it rolling I promise I will be present there every single possible moment. I'll take my three vacation days I have left and use them in addition to the two days I have to have off each week. So I will be there 7 of the ten days.

And as insurance that your $3 didn't go to waste I promise to make video of the event when it happens, and if for some reason the event doesn't happen I promise to donate all the money I receive from you guys straight to the campaign. I'd be sure to top it off at $250 so when the next quarterly report comes out you can see my name and know.

So if you will be kind enough...

PayPal me at ronpaulnow@gmail.com

In case there are any trust issue LibertyEagle has suggested that I show this: http://www.dothaneagle.com/gulfcoasteast/dea/search.apx.-content-articles-DEA-2007-08-02-0012.html

It's an article from the local paper for my area, I was interviewed about the new meetup group and my "online activism."

Any donation you can give will be greatly appreciated.

The goal: $600
What's been given so far: $484.00 ($456.61 after PayPal fee)

I will close this thread Saturday, or if by some miracle the goal is reached before then.

Thank you.

sent $30.00. Sorry I couldn't be there to help out, I'm on the complete opposite side of the country.

BTW I'd strongly recommend against using a projector. Lighting, especially outdoors will render it virtually useless. A simple laptop or computer hooked into a television will probably work just fine. I own several home theater and home electronic related companies, as well as a computer company, so if you need any advising I can hook you up with some time with one of my techs. Just pm me with some details on what your conditions will be.

Yes I agree. I would recommend to the OP to send out a request for a 27/32" Flat Panel TV. Someone in a local meetup group has to have one (I have one, and the ATP next to me does also). They can also be easily connected to the computer through a variety of methods depending on the TV.

10 sent. Agreed on the projector. I set and operate that stuff for a living and and there are better, cheaper ways to show vids. The large flatscreen that many own is a decent idea, you may be able to borrow one. You will need a mount/stand. easily built into a backdrop. Keep it cool and dry. The problem with a big screen will be sound issues, (competing with your pitches).

You could also use a computer with 21/27 or so size monitor set to the side for viewing with a decent set of (consumer computer speakers). Quite a few people can view these size monitors. In the same area you could have another box where people could read RP library and check out any vid (with headsets) on their own.

Hi folks, I'm part of Wills meetup here in Dothan Alabama and I believe the $600 Will is raising is just for the cost of the booth rental for the ten days. There will be a lot of other cost as this is put together. Rheems of paper, ink cartridges, signs, anything we can get printed professionally to be distributed, bumper stickers, ect ect. I will also pledge to take my one week vacation during that time frame and make sure that booth is manned for ten days. I also will pay for some tee shirts for our group to wear. This will be a big sacrifice for me I'm a waitress. Any and all help is greatly aprreciated. Ann

your efforts are appreciated.

This board can be quite generous when it gets it's mind on it. I need to do some bank tranfers before I can send much more over the net and there are quite a few good efforts being backed here. Perhaps posting more details of your plans/progress will help keep this thread popping to the top and get more people on board.

HEY ANN!

Yes. The $600 I'm aiming for here would only cover the booth cost. There is still the costs of everything else... but $600 is a number I'll more than gladly accept if this forum can provide it. But of course we could use the extra donations!

So like my fellow local Ron Pauler stated already... any help will be greatly appreciated.

my own group has met once.

we talked about this, and to my understanding we will be collecting funds from our group in the coming meeting.

i know i'm gonna throw 100 dollars in next meeting, i can't speak for the other members.

securing the booth is the goal right now, once we have the booth secured we will have a good two months to pull our resources and stock up on materials.

according to our organizer when he talked to the festival they stated there was a limited supply left.

And yes that was me in the Dothan paper

These folks are the real deal. The recent article in the Dothan Eagle about Will and the RP Meetup group was seen by a lot of people in the area. My own sister lives in Enterprise, AL and she noticed it.

Let's try to help these guys get started with a bang at the upcoming Peanut Festival. They will be able to spread Ron's message to THOUSANDS of people at this one event. :D

Note: Take a look at the article about Honky Will and his Ron Paul Meetup group.

She hasn't told me for sure. I think she's worried that he won't be able to win. She was raised the same way as I was though and heard Ron Paul's name being bantered around by my mother all the time. She was a big fan. I'm sure she'll end up voting for him.
