Those Canadians out there like me who are cheerleaders for Ron Paul might want to check out the Libertarian Party of Canada.

Ya I hear ya, but none of the current parties espouse libertarian ideals. NDP is an anti-war democratic socialist party, Conservatives are pro-war, pro-corporate welfare, social control, and the Liberals are a bad mix of both.

A gentle suggestion (from an American) to ease your quandary:

Without a basis in principle, any effort based on building your hopes
on an existing party is doomed to failure.
Our American effort to re-establish the principles of Conservative government
are based specifically on the written Constitution.

I admit I know nothing about your dilemma.
The suggestion is that you look to the core documented principles
of any party you consider for such an effort and make certain
that if you invest your time and effort in such a path
that the documents on which the party is based are fertile ground.

If there is no such basis, then the best way forward is a new party.

Hope this helps, and best wishes on whatever you decide to do.
Know for certain there will be many Americans who will be cheering you on
if not actually willing and able to help in any efforts in this direction.

I believe private health care and education can be implemented in Canada, not in sweeping change but in by incremental progress. Here in BC there is quite a bit of support for allowing doctors to open private practices, as many people are forced to go to the states to beat the wait times.
