I posted this in another thread that got buried but I thought this needed its own topic with so many people getting down about the future of the country. So sorry if you have already read it.

If we could just get together in the same state/county to change its politics, I think we'd have a chance at some freedom in our lifetime.

At some point we have to realize that most Americans don't care about being free. As long as they have their beer and televisions nothing will ever change for the better. How can we educate the population when the MSM does everything in its power to censor our ideas? Yes, we do have the Internet now and our ideas have gained a lot more attention, but I'm afraid that most people simple do not care. While its possible to educate those people who want to learn, the majority of our populace could care less.

Just imagine what could be done if all of the Ron Paul supporters migrated to a state for the purpose of controlling it politically.

I believe we should consider FSW (Free State Wyoming). Not only is the population low, the people are generally independent minded, and in 2000 not a single county voted for Gore. That gives a very good republican base to work on.

Take a look at Niobrara County for example, with a population of 2407. I bet as few as 500 people could control that whole county politically. All it would take is for every one of the new migrants to vote for their liberty minded candidate in the primaries. Seeing how primaries are generally low turnout, once you get your Republican candidate in the general election, you have about a perfect shot at that person winning the general election for that county because its about 80% Republican.

Wouldn't it feel great to at least live in a free county?! If at any future point, the federal government becomes more tyranical, you have hundreds of neighbors who could at least stand together.

How about at least a little liberty in our lifetimes?

I forgot to mention a great book written by the founder of Free State Wyoming. It lays out a scenario where people could take over Wyoming politics for freedom. If nothing else its a good read.

Just one little problem, the Feds own a good chunk of your state.

How can it be free?

The original Free State Project settled on New Hampshire after a couple of years of looking at all the states and then narrowing down thier choices. They looked at all manner of demographics and well as geoghraphical location and population to make the decision. FreeStaters have now been actually moving there for a couple of years now and, sadly, you saw what happened in the NH primary.

Everyone might also want to remember what happened with the South - an entire area of the country that wanted to be left alone and not controlled from Washington. Whether a single state's population wanted to take things as far as seccession or not, don't think the Feds are going to let things very far before they start the blackmail and threats to bring it back into line.

a good portion of them are anarchist and don't even vote. (not a majority but SOME)

Where are you getting that information? I'm curious because I was led to believe from the very beginning that the purpose of getting x-number of people in one area was to, basically, take over the local government by running liberty-minded candidates backed up with liberty-loving voters.

I don't think the fact that the Federal government owns a good portion of Wyoming hurts any freedom movement there. I mean the Feds believe they own every state so what is the difference? They will have to be slowly re-educated anyway.

I think the FSP's choice of New Hampshire is rather unfortunate. In the voting Wyoming came in 2nd place but New Hampshire has 2.7 times more voters than Wyoming. That makes it much harder to gain political control. NH also has 140 people per square mile, which is 23 times that of WY at 6 per sq. mile. Also I don't think New England in general is very friendly to guns. It would be hard to keep the socialists in the neighboring states from migrating there and negating the FSP. On the other hand, not too many people consider moving to Wyoming.

I'm already planning to move to Colorado, about 20 miles from the Wyoming border. I'd say a resurgence of Free State Wyoming would be a great thing! And keep Free Staters moving to New Hampshire. The bottom line is that a lot of people in the western states are less likely to move back east, and likewise, people in the eastern states are somewhat less likely to move out west.
Free State Projects running parallel in New Hampshire and Wyoming would be a great thing.
Some might contend that splitting forces like this is a bad idea, and dilutes the effect of either project, but two things to keep in mind:
1) again, some people that move to Wyoming wouldn't have been willing to move to New Hampshire, and vice versa
2) We are waking more and more people up to the freedom message via the campaign of Dr. Paul - we're accessing new blood for this project.

Right now is probably not the right time, but if things don't go our way on Super Tuesday and beyond, spreading this message through the meetup groups and such would be a great thing imho.

Wyoming, Montana, whatever...I'm game. I have skills to bring to the table and I'm down for some huge change, wherever that may take place.

I'd just caution to try to go to a place that has natural resources and limited local government.

Montana is the better choice, think about it. Geographically speaking we are totally giving it it to Wyoming missionary style.

I believe the main reason Wyoming was chosen is because it has the lowest population of any state. I realize Montana has better topographical defensibility with Idaho perhaps being even better but 25% of Wyoming is mountainous. Wyoming is also more conservative than either Idaho or Montana, and 2/3 of its voters are Republicans. Every four years the house, half the Senate, the governor, secretary of state, and all county officials are elected.

As far as self sufficiency, Wyoming is 1st in coal production and 6th in oil and natural gas. Gas and electricity are some of the lowest in the 50 states. Agriculture is also very self sufficient.

As far as business:

No personal income tax, no corporate income tax, no gross receipts tax, no inventory tax, 4% retail sales tax, 9cent/gallon fuel tax, low property taxes.

As few as 24,500 people could politically control the 13 least populated counties, that’s over half of Wyoming geographically and as big as entire New York State.

Honestly, you don’t even need to live there to vote. All you need is a Wyoming driver’s license and have someone let you use their address. That way, those of you who aren’t ready to make the move can support those who are already there when its time to vote. Once we start to gain control in the state and liberty has a new home, you might consider moving.

Check out the forums at http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswforum/index.php

Any questions you have about Wyoming can be answered there. There are already some people who have made the move. I believe they are mainly located in Crook County. They’d be happy to answer your questions.
