I think that quote from Arnold

(Reagan) 'Wasn't some right-wing nut like some of those out there for the republican nomination" Was indirectly directed at Ron Paul. Especially framed by the Regan Clan quotes that have managed to warp Ronald Regans legacy to some populist crap. Geh, Arnold is so in Ted Kennedy's pocket its foul. Arnold's endorsement of McCain is foul as well.

Reagan was not a right-wing nut.

Reagan was endorsed by Paul and, in turn, endorsed Paul.

Therefore, Paul could not be a right-wing nut, so Arnold could not have meant Paul. Unless he's stupid, of course.

To be fair to Arnold, Ron Paul's positions on fiscal conservancy, sound money, free markets, deregulation, limited govt., etc. is a very crazy and scary idea to someone from Europe. People like Arnold are the biggest hypocrites in the world. They come to our country to seek the riches that are available via opportunities created from our founding fathers' foresight. Then once they have grabbed their immense piece of the pie, they begin to demand socialistic/backward thinking policies under the notion of it being what is best for the population as a whole. Actual Americans who don't just pay lip service to The Constitution but actually read it seek to elect only those that adhere to it, find Ron Paul to be the only sane and honest person in this election.

And isn't it always funny they wait so perfectly until after they have their wealth?

If they really meant what they said why not donate their fortune now and lead by example?

The strange thing is, I've seen him do the intro to the video series of Milton Friedmans 'Free to choose'. So he definitely has a grasp of freedom but I think he just discarded it for political reasons. Sell out...

Reagan was not a right-wing nut.

this is debateable. pre-assassination reagan was a libertarian, so at that point i think he would be considered a right-wing nut by todays standards.

theres a lot of definitions of right-wing nut, the tv talk show version(o'reilly), the political anti establishment version(buchanan), or if you ask a collectivist anarchist or neo socialist the libertarians are(paul)

Do you really believe Friedman has a grasp of freedom ? ? ?

One of Arnold's very first actions as governor was to beg Bush for a federal bailout.

Ron Paul believes in following the Constitution, which stops Arnold from running for president.

Pff what's up with all the Friedman bashing around here...

Look I know Austrians don't agree with him but let me put it this way. He really managed to popularize freemarket and limited government ideas and sold them effectively to the greater public. Actually, it was the book free to choose which introduced me to libertarianism (having never heard of it before in this collectivist country). After studying and reading more I'm now an Austrian as well.
So I think you should cut him some slack, I believe he made a very significant contribution to the cause of liberty.

You won't get any Friedman bashing from me. I actually think his work was much greater than that of the Austrians.
