Ok folks, my brother holds part of the power of the influence to the mainstream media. The Neilsen ratings diary for next week. For those of you who don't know, the Neilsen ratings determine how many people watch which shows. From these ratings the different networks can charge higher or lower prices for ad time based on those ratings.

So, for the next week will be keeping a diary of all of the shows that he watches (The Neilsen diary) and at the end of the week he sends it to them.

He wants me to give him as many pro-Ron Paul TV moments for Ron Paul over the next week. So, if you see any positive mention, any air time given to Ron Paul or positive press be sure to write down the time and the network (NBC,CBS,CNN, etc).

One person with the diary represents hundreds of thousands of viewers. Let's make some good money for those stations that are good to our guy.

I work in radio and these broadcast people live and die by "ratings".

If more than one RP person received this and were able to do the same it will make a profound effect.

Don't they have stuff built in to the system to prevent manipulation from happening?

My fiance works for Neilsen. Nope, their whole business model is diaries and digital cable tracking. (for TV viewership that is)

I think it will be a VERY thin diary if he watches nothing but RP on TV.

then that would reflect on the TV ratings...no Ron Paul...no ratings boost

No, if you see him on TV, or a positive message about him, you bump this thread with the time and station.

ie: "They just had Ron Paul on CNN at 11:23 EST...all positive"

or: "They just mentioned Ron Paul's kick ass Q4 money on Morning Joe and gave him a fair shake: MSNBC 9:08 EST"

I didn't know they still did this. I don't see how this method is accurate. I thought they could just tell what people were watching from our cable connections.

But say you watch everything to get to the rare mentions of Ron Paul, wouldn't you give ratings to EVERYTHING you're watching, with RP or not?

Nope, they have TV diaries...they sent it to him in the mail (along with $30 woot!). It's just a week's worth of pages with an hourly diary to mark down which family member watched what station at what time...

then at the end of the week he sends it back to Nielsen.

I was a Telecom major in college...this is pretty much the basis for all of the TV ratings and ad revenue for everyone. They do have some set top boxes but I've never heard of anyone actually having one (probably too hard to set up for all the different configurations there are)

There were threads here earlier discussing Chris Matthews last night on MSNBC, and another about Colbert yesterday evening.

Ok, the week is over for me...if anyone knows of any other shows that had positive exposure to Ron Paul since Saturday let me know...I didn't get a chance to use the 'net for the past 5 days so I wasn't following any YouTubes that might've come up.

I saw the Cavuto piece on Fox Business but I don't get Fox Business...
