Write-in anyway?

When using an electronic voting machine, what would be the result of writing-in the name of my candidate -- even if my candidate is one of the electronic selections? I am thinking of just writing in my choice from now on on all elections, even if the machine has my choices in the list of selections.

What if many people started doing this?

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't do that if Ron Paul was already on the ballot. It may not count.
