View Full Version : Ron Paul is doing quite well today!

We're experiencing a real increase in donations starting at 9:00 today.
Was there a money bomb that I didn't know about?
Are we finally getting serious about daily donations?

Even Mike's mysterious (at least to me) daily money surge didn't overcome us today!

http://ronpaulgraphs.com/rp_vs_huck_today.html

Usually we're quite linear - A fairly predictable rounded slope with no irregularities.
Whatever the reason, I like the results!

Please help the continuation of this trend!

either that or that meter is self adjusting the worth of the dollars thanks to that new fed rate cut. :D

For the first time today I heard a Ron Paul radio ad and it was on during the rush limbaugh show. Maybe the ad was national? I don't know, but I'm in Virginia; our primary isn't until February 12th.

At any rate, I hope ads all over the place will help spark donations.

Well that's actually the controversy from another thread..

Apparently Huckabee promised a TV evangelical type who is facing legal problems for political contributions to back him, and in turn the TV Evangelical is going out and raising a bunch of $$ for him

I just heard one here in southwest Ohio during Limbaugh's Show(meltdown) today.

It was talking about healthcare and Ron Paul's experience as a Doctor in both the military and private sectors, very well done and it was from the official campaign.

No he's not a troll - He's right.

Usually Mike Huckabee raises more than us.....He has ever since Iowa.
The reasoning that Huckabee is broke is a myth.

Edit: Maybe I'm wrong about this....See what bbartlog says below.

We really need to keep this in mind.

this talk I keep hearing that Huckabee is "running on fumes"?

The issue for both Huck and McCain is that they started the year flat broke (actually $3 million in debt in McCain's case). The fact that one of them has raised $3 million since then and the other $7 million (as compared to Paul's $4 million) doesn't come close to catching up with the $8-10 million war chest that Paul started the year with (and that appears to be after TV ad purchases for Feb 5).
Anyway, as far as Huckabee's financial straits are concerned, there's plenty of other evidence. He had to stop paying top advisors and stop chauffeuring around a media entourage because he couldn't afford it any more. He really is running on empty. Interestingly, he's set a fundraising target and date sort of similar to Paul's - Huckabee wants to raise $10 million by Feb 5, Paul wants to get $8 million. Paul is about halfway there, Huckabee is $7 million short. While I don't know how good Ron's chances of making $8 million are, I'm very confident that Huckabee will fall far short of his goal (will be lucky if he manages to get halfway).

I have a feeling Huck's campaign is inflating the daily totals to increase the spirits for his moneybomb. Every day there seems to be a $20-$30k jump in the middle of the day, in what could only be offline donations...or an easy fix at Huck's HQ.

These real-time quotes are nice and all, but they can report whatever they want.

The only numbers that matter are the ones reported at the end of the quarter.

Just look at the bottom left-hand corner of the widget. There will be little buttons that say "previous" and "next." Those will cycle through the options.

I also noticed the increase in donations and that we're passing up Huck for the day. Couple questions: Does anyone know why the vertical spike around 10 am? Is this part of his "prayer campaign"? Also, where does RonPaulGraphs get the Huck info? I didn't find it on Huck's website, but I haven't exactly searched hi and lo. Does anyone know the number of donations for Huck? Like, what's the per capita donation average? That's more telling to me than dollar numbers alone. Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answers!

It's the spending. Ron Paul is a spendthrift, just like our government would be under him. The neo-cons burn through their cash, just like the government does under them.

Huckabee though had a bad 4th quarter.. Paul had a great 4th quarter and still has money left over from the 4th quarter to spend.. Meanwhile Huckabee has been spending money from this quarter because he did so poorly in the last quarter (there's just no money there in the 4th qtr vault for him)..

Hence, Paul has alot more money than huckabee

His Campaign isn't paying anyone. He is broke and just able to afford to fly to the next state, and do a few campaign stops.

He hasn't raised nearly enough money to compete. This along with McCain and Giuliani. At least Giuliani had the honor to pull out.

Even Mike's mysterious (at least to me) daily money surge didn't overcome us today!

Mike Huckabee's money surge may stem from the fact that he pleaded for and is receiving money from his televangelist friends. (Remember, he dropped out of seminary (the place where he supposedly received his nonexistent degree in theology) to take charge of PR for another televangelist.) Someone wrote a diary entry over at Daily Kos and is sensationalizing it as: BREAKING: Huckabee Scandal (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/30/64350/9840/475/445998)

average daily total: $114,070
days to end of quarter: 61

61 x $114,070 = $6,958,270

total raised Q1 so far = $3,849,030

$6958270 + $3,849,030 = current estimate for Q1: $10,807,300

$10,807,300 + (moneybomb-cash-still-to-come) = ?
