What is not being considered in Main Stream Media analysis is that if Ron Paul survives February 5th , as his fundraising numbers seem to indicate, he could conceivably consolidate a significant chunk of Huckabee’s following (Both candidates promise to eliminate the IRS and both also have firm Pro-Life stances).

Dugg. I would be glad if we picked up any of Huck's supporters. I don't know how realistic that is. It all depends on the war issue vs the economy.

That is why I really want him to have his chance in the general election, because after this knockdown drag out fight between Obama and Clinton, some will be looking to go to a third party antiwar candidate.

"What is not being considered in Main Stream Media analysis is that if Ron Paul survives February 5th , as his fundraising numbers seem to indicate, he could conceivably consolidate a significant chunk of Huckabee’s following (Both candidates promise to eliminate the IRS and both also have firm Pro-Life stances). Any pressure put on Ron Paul by the RNC will be irrelevant, while Romney may cave in to similar pressure. In this scenario the Republican Party would be polarized to the center with McCain and the far right with Paul. If it were to get to this point and the party decided to go ahead and nominate McCain, they would do so at the risk of completely alienating RNC members at the right of the party’s spectrum.

The way the primaries are set up the results make an argument that the center is where the votes are that are needed to beat the Democrats in November, when in reality in this election cycle the votes needed to beat the Democrats might be at the far right, and that vote could go third party making 50+1 in the general election impossible for the Republicans."

Those who are not trying to outright destroy the Republican party know they need us to win.

An interesting possibility no one has seemed to consider is that if McCain sweeps Super Tuesday, he could knock one or both of the other candidates out. Even if he locks up most of the delegates, there could then be a concerted anti-McCain effort, with people who disagree with Paul but hate McCain even more trying to at least prevent him from running the table and owning the convention. They might figure Paul would keep McCain in check on all those domestic policy issues they hate McCain for. In the process, McCain might fall just short of the delegates needed to avoid a brokered convention and Paul might win the 5 states he needs to negotiate for the nomination.
