COME HOME
By Jordan Lapides

Gathered ‘round eternal light.
Our Fathers reminisced.
Of Battle cries, of victories won.
To bring the agelessness.

Of freedom to all living men.
A Constitution forged.
Of shackles loosed by virtues heart.
A nation had been born.

Although our Fathers made their mark.
And freedom won the day.
Like dark sands through an hour glass.
Their child lost it’s way.

Adams wept, Thomas cried.
None could still their mourning.
The child seduced by blackened hearts.
Failed heed the Father’s warnings.

Franklin grieved and George bemoaned.
Patrick Henry sought in vain.
The Constitution child, who for a while.
Ner erred the path ‘twas lain.

“Too long, too long” cried Madison.
The child will not keep.
As decades roll, the wayward heart.
In darkness dwells more deep.

For sure as time doth march ahead.
The taste of death arrives.
We must ensure the safe return.
Lest the child not survive.

Come home, the home we built for you.
Your freedoms and your rights.
The Constitution you once loved.
For your return awaits.

But who is there to guide the child.
Be sure his safe return.
And who is there to teach the child.
The path he once had learned.

I know of one, as one of us.
Who hears the child’s call.
Attempts to rescue day by day.
The one known as Ron Paul.

Take heed the guide of Dr. Paul.
Let this child no more roam.
For in the Constitution’s arm’s.
Our dear child, welcome home.
