If this doesn't convince you to become a precinct leader I don't know what will:

FROM THE CAMPAIGN DAILY DOSE BLOG COMMENTS

Dear Folks,

I’m sure you are aware of most of this. However, I would just like to tell you what we went through down here in Broward County, South Florida. As you know, Dr. Paul took 3% of the vote in Florida. In the 13 precincts that myself and someone else worked here in Broward County, Dr. Paul came in second to John McCain; that’s right, Dr. Paul beat Romney, Giuliani and Huckabee. This happened with almost NO media coverage of Dr. Paul. Also, Broward County is a strong for Giuliani but Dr. Paul beat Giuliani in those 13 precincts that we worked. We know of other Dr. Paul supporters in Broward County who were waving Dr. Paul’s signs, but they did not do that well in their precincts. Sign waving does NOT get votes, BUT PRECINCT WORK DOES GET VOTES!!! Please do the precinct work and that is how Dr. Paul will win. God Bless You

Edit: I posted this after reading it on the daily dose blog. It appears from comments below that this is unsubstantiated. However the campaign itself has said in IA and MI that precincts that were canvass consistently brought in 2-3x as many votes percentage wise for RP than non canvassed counties. I cannot stress enough the importance of canvassing

There are hundreds of precincts in Broward County. So at the end of the day we only got 3% there because we didn't have precinct leaders in all of the precincts. The point is that in precincts where we CANVASS we easily come in at least 2nd

Where's the proof of this claim?

My Self and ALOT of pther peopel canvased Jacksonville... and it didn't do anything...

There are success stories, but they aren't neccessarily the end all be all... With so many people I spoke too... the "He can't win" and "he's too weird" was too much to over come... and a national campaign with offical advertising overcomes that.

Perhaps the most important thread in GRC right now. Let's keep this at the top.

Regardless of your personal success stories or not....canvassing and GOTV are what's going to make the biggest impact right now, imo.

Some people just aren't going to do this. It's frustrating because I call RP supporters and email them saying canvasing is the only thing that has worked and most, not all, just want to comment on youtube. I'm serious, some people think they are converting people on youtube. HAHAHAH.

I think you've been hammering home the message for months and months Brad, that the old fashioned campaigning is what's required, shame the PL thing didn't happen earlier...

The results for the precinct are posted at the entrance of the polling place. I believe that Florida law requires them to remain up for 24 hours. (They usually disappear well before that :( ).

Some counties post complete results on line.

The best way to verify is to take a trip down to the SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS office and ask to see the results by precinct.

I don't know but it is terrible. The poster also said that he and another person covered 13 precincts. It would be impossible for 2 people to do a credible job covering 13 precincts which made me wonder about the validity of the claim.

Actually to cover a precinct properly takes more than one person which is part of the canvassing process to convert supporters to workers.

The official campaign should have taken the lead on this 6 months ago however.

I had written to the Broward County meetup some time ago suggesting that more canvassing and less sign waving would gather more votes but the organiser choose not to post my message. I really lost a bit of hope at this point for here we had a so called organiser for the champion of freedom and liberty censoring messages. It became clear to me at this point that the laissez faire attitude of the official campaign towards organising the grassroots would not result in an effective campaign.

Actually it is possible for two people to canvass 13 precincts. It takes max of a day per precinct for 2 people. I know from experience in IA and now in Chicago

I wasn't thinking of people working at it full time.

Canvassing done right requires people who live in the precinct that can call on peoples homes multiple times over a number of months before the election.

Two people per precinct would be ideal.

That is somewhat true, but if you canvased the way we do here in SJ you could cover a precint in a short day and have time left for more. Then call back at your own time.
