"It ought to be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things. Because the innovator has for enemies all those who have done well under the old conditions, and lukewarm defenders in those who may do well under the new. This coolness arises partly from fear of the opponents, who have the laws on their side, and partly from the incredulity of men, who do not readily believe in new things until they have had a long experience of them."

-Niccolo Machiavelli

That's why Ron Paul's campaign faces such a steep climb. It's not because there's a coordinated conspiracy to hide the truth. It's because people tend to be skeptical of new ideas, simply because they're new. Remember this! Burn it into the back of your skull! This is the challenge we face, and this will be the challenge we continue to face for as long as it takes to convince everyone that we don't need the government to take care of us from the cradle to the grave!

I didn't know The Constitution and message of the founders was considered a new idea.

Unfortunately, it is. The United States lost its way somewhere around the time of FDR and the New Deal. The vast majority of Americans alive today were born after that happened. To them, it's a new idea.
