The national media focuses on a handful of states, but Ron Paul activity is booming all around the country in places the national media isn’t looking. In Wisconsin, for example, as the Oshkosh Northwestern reports. “I have yet to see even a Hillary (Clinton) sticker and Ron Paul stuff is all over the place,” Paul supporter Diana Nickel tells the newspaper. Nickel’s organization includes 130 Paul activists, and she knows just how good Dr. Paul’s chances are: “(The other candidates) are all running out of money and … I think he’s go the support that will be with him and he will be in there as the other ones drop out simply because of lack of funds.” She’s right — Fred Thompson is proof of that, and the clock is ticking on Huckabee and Giuliani…

In Mississippi, the Ron Paul Freedom Hall has getting noticed and even pulling in passersby from a nearby highway who are drawn Dr. Paul’s message. Here’s what Amber Craig of the Mississippi Press reports:

OCEAN SPRINGS — The Ron Paul Freedom Hall speaks louder than words.

It pops up suddenly along U.S. Highway 90 in Ocean Springs. The building’s red and blue stripes, blue and white round concrete steps and American flags scattered across the front lawn, coupled with its location in a sparsely populated area of the highway, make it nearly impossible for motorists to ignore.

“We have people pull off the highway and say, Hey, can I have a sign?’” supporter Theron Furr said Friday afternoon while standing inside Freedom Hall.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota, a state little cultivated by other candidates even though it’s hosting the Republican National Convention this September (in St. Paul — and won’t it be great to nominate Ron Paul in St. Paul?), the Ron Paul 2008 campaign is launching new radio and television ads. And as our Minnesota State Coordinator Marianne Stebbins points out, Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate with an office in the state:

Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate committed to win Minnesota,” says Ron Paul Minnesota State Coordinator, Marianne Stebbins. “The other candidates are not interested in Minnesota as demonstrated by their lack of organization, time, and money spent in the state.”

Ron Paul is the only Republican with a Minnesota office. Minnesota is a target state for the Ron Paul Campaign. With eight days until the February 5 Republican caucus, Minnesotans can expect more from the Ron Paul campaign.

“We have the numbers and organization statewide to compete in Minnesota,” says Stebbins. “We plan on surprising many people on February 5.”

All politics is local, as the former House speaker Tip O’Neill used to say. Ron Paul realizes this, even if the other candidates don’t — their emphasis is on the national media’s beauty pageants. We’re fighting on local fronts throughout the heartland. You can help in your city or town by becoming a Precinct Leader, the most valuable thing that any activist can do for Ron Paul. This race is about taking back America, not just the early primary states.
