You have to go to FEC.gov and file as a PAC.

I think that the campaign has to report any donation amount over 250 if you donate to them. Haven't heard anything else.

How do I start a nonconnected PAC?

Nonconnected PACs must register by filing FEC Form 1 [PDF], Statement of Organization within 10 days after raising or spending in excess of $1,000 in connection with federal elections. Such PACs should download the Campaign Guide for Nonconnected Committees [PDF] for more information on the laws that apply to them.

Here's a link that will may help you...
http://www.fec.gov/info/compliance.shtml

If you call the 800 # they should be able to walk you through the process of what you need to report.

You don't need a PAC if you're just an individual.

If you buy it, you don't need to start a PAC. You only need to start a PAC if multiple people are donating.

You can run an add without filing anything

Thank you - Is there an individual amount that I would have to file? It's only Feb. Nov is a long time away.
