The President makes:
* $400,000 a year salary
* $50,000 expense account (yearly)
* $100,000 nontaxable travel account (yearly)
* $19,000 for entertainment (yearly)
On top of the salary and expense accounts, the U.S. president gets free housing with plenty of amenities. The White House has 132 rooms, 32 bathrooms, a movie theater, bowling alley, billiards room, tennis court, jogging track and putting greens.
The President also has use of Camp David, the presidential retreat.
Really, this isn't the best salary during presidencies in terms of 2007 purchasing power:
The President on September 24, 1789 made $25,000 a year ($566,000 in 2007 dollars)
The President on March 3, 1873 made $50,000 a year ($865,000 in 2007 dollars)
The President on March 4, 1909 made $75,000 a year ($1,714,000 in 2007 dollars)
The President on January 19, 1949 made $100,000 a year ($875,000 in 2007 dollars)
The President on January 20, 1969 made $200,000 a year ($1,135,000 in 2007 dollars)
The best time to become wealthy as a President was during the times of President Taft and President Woodrow Wilson, who (the latter) entered us into World War 1, and signed the beloved Federal Reserve Act and ruined our Country by giving our Republic to rich, criminal bankers.

What an insanely varient salary between Presidents, huh?
Surely, President Woodrow Wilson shouldn't have gotten paid $6,856,000 for giving our Country away, should he? (Almost 7-million dollars in 2007 dollars over 4 years)
